Divisions are the first-level administrative divisions in Bangladesh. As of 2023,there are eight divisions of Bangladesh,each named after the major city within its jurisdiction that also serves as the administrative seat of that division. Each division is divided into several districts which are further subdivided into upazilas,then union councils.
Sheikh Mujibur Rahman,popularly known by the honorific prefix Bangabandhu was a Bangladeshi politician,revolutionary,statesman,activist and diarist. As a politician,Mujib had held continuous positions as president or prime minister from April 1971 until his assassination in August 1975:as president from 1971 to 1972 and briefly from 1975 until his death,and as prime minister from 1972 to 1975. Mujib successfully led the Bangladeshi independence movement and restored the Bengali sovereignty after over two centuries following the Battle of Plassey in 1757,for which he is honoured as the 'Father of the Nation' in Bangladesh. In 2011,the fifteenth constitutional amendment in Bangladesh referred to Sheikh Mujib as the Father of the Nation who declared independence;these references were enshrined in the fifth,sixth,and seventh schedules of the constitution. His Bengali nationalist ideology,socio-political theories,and political doctrines are sometimes called Mujibism.
Chittagong,officially Chattogram,is the second-largest city in Bangladesh. Home to the Port of Chittagong,it is the busiest port in Bangladesh and the Bay of Bengal. It is the administrative seat of an eponymous division and district. The city is located on the banks of the Karnaphuli River between the Chittagong Hill Tracts and the Bay of Bengal. The Greater Chittagong Area had a population of more than 5.2 million in 2022. In 2020,the city area had a population of more than 3.9 million. The city is home to many large local businesses and plays an important role in the Bangladeshi economy.

The Jatiya Sangsad,often simply referred to as Sangsad and also known as the House of the Nation,is the supreme legislative body of Bangladesh. Sheikh Hasina Wazed is a Bangladeshi politician who has served as the tenth prime minister of Bangladesh from June 1996 to July 2001 and again since January 2009. She is the daughter of Sheikh Mujibur Rahman,the founding father and first president of Bangladesh. Having served for a combined total of over 19 years,she is the longest serving prime minister in the history of Bangladesh. The Bangladesh Liberation War,also known as the Bangladesh War of Independence,or simply the Liberation War in Bangladesh,was a revolution and armed conflict sparked by the rise of the Bengali nationalist and self-determination movement in East Pakistan,which resulted in the independence of Bangladesh. The war began when the Pakistani military junta based in West Pakistan—under the orders of Yahya Khan—launched Operation Searchlight against the people of East Pakistan on the night of 25 March 1971,initiating the Bangladesh genocide.
The Bangladesh men's national cricket team,popularly known as The Tigers,is administered by the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB). It is a Full Member of the International Cricket Council (ICC) with Test,One-Day International (ODI) and Twenty20 International (T20I) status. It played its first Test match in November 2000 against India with a 9 wicket win in Dhaka,becoming the tenth Test-playing nation. It became an associate member of the ICC in 1977,and competed in six ICC Trophies but performed inconsistently until 1997,which marked the year of their first major victory,winning the 1997 ICC Trophy held in Malaysia. This set Bangladesh on its way of becoming a Test-playing nation,a journey which ended with success in the year 2000.
The Bangladesh national football team is the national recognised football team of Bangladesh and is controlled by the Bangladesh Football Federation (BFF). It is a member of the Asian Football Confederation (AFC) since 1973 and of FIFA since 1974,even though the Bangladesh Football Federation was first founded in 1972. Bangladesh was elected as a member of the AFC Executive Committee in 1982–1986 and 1998–2002. The current Executive Committee was elected democratically,under an AFC approved constitution and direct supervision of FIFA &AFC,in October 2020.

Mustafizur Rahman is a Bangladeshi international cricketer. He is one of the best fast bowlers to emerge from Bangladesh. Born on 6 September 1995,in Satkhira,Bangladesh,Rahman's career took off during the 2015 Bangladesh Premier League when he caught the attention of cricket pundits with his ability to bowl accurate cutters and slower deliveries,earning him the nickname "The Fizz." This talent quickly propelled him to international prominence. He plays for Chennai Super Kings in IPL and is a left-arm fast-medium bowler.
