Munsi Kabir Uddin Ahmed was the superintendent of police of Comilla District who was killed in the Bangladesh Liberation War. [1] He was killed for refusing to give the Pakistan Army based in Comilla Cantonment the police armory. [2] He was posthumously awarded the Independence Day Award, the highest civilian award, in 2014. [1] [3] [4]

AKM Samsul Haque Khan, Deputy Commissioner, ordered the Superintendent of Police in Comilla District, Ahmed, to stop cooperating with the Pakistan Army. [5] On 24 March 1971, hours before the start of Operation Searchlight on 25 March, AKM Samsul Haque Khan was detained along with Ahmed. [6] He was never seen again. [6] According to Anthony Mascarenhas both of them were executed by Pakistan Army. [6]

Bir Bikrom Hafizuddin Ahmed is a Bangladesh Nationalist Party politician, a retired Bangladesh Army major, and a six-term Jatiya Sangsad member representing the Bhola-3 constituency. He fought in the Bangladesh Liberation War and was awarded the third highest gallantry award in Bangladesh, Bir Bikrom, for his courage. He is also a retired footballer and one of the few from East Pakistan to have represented the Pakistan national football team.

Faizur Rahman Ahmed was a police officer and a freedom fighter of the 1971 Bangladesh Liberation War. He was killed by Pakistani military personnel during the war. He was given the Independence Day Award posthumously by the government of Bangladesh in 2017.

The non-cooperation movement of 1971 was a historical movement in then East Pakistan by the Awami League and the general public against the military government of Pakistan in March of that year. After the announcement of the suspension of the session of the National Assembly of Pakistan on 1 March, the spontaneous movement of the people started, but officially on the call of Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, the non-cooperation movement started on 2 March and continued until 25 March. The movement lasted for a total of 25 days. The main objective of this movement was to ensure the autonomy of East Pakistan from the central government of Pakistan. During this period, the control of the central government of West Pakistan over the civilian administration of East Pakistan was almost non-existent. At one stage of the movement, the whole of East Pakistan, except the cantonments, was practically under the command of Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.
