Munyaradzi "Munya" Chidzonga (born December 8, 1983) is a Zimbabwean actor. He first rose to prominence in 2008, with his appearance on the reality TV show Big Brother Africa [1] representing Zimbabwe in its third season, in which he achieved third place. [2] In 2010, he participated in the fifth season of Big Brother Africa, becoming runners-up losing to Uti Nwachukwu, the representative for Nigeria, who also contested in Season 3. [3]

After the reality show, Munya went on to produce and act in the films Lobola (2010) and The Gentleman (2011) through his production company, Ivory Pictures. [4] In 2012, he won a NAMA Award for the Most Outstanding Actor in the Film and Television category for his performance in the film The Gentleman. [5] In 2014, Chidzonga starred in the third season of the South African comedy-drama show Mzansi Love, which was aired on e.tv and eKasi+. [2] [4] [6]

Early life and education

Chidzonga was born on 8 December 1985. For his secondary education, he attended Peterhouse Boys' School, an elite independent school just outside Marondera, where he was a prefect. He was hailed for his performance in a school play, "Absent Friends", in 2004. [7] Munya was the first Petrean in the history of the school to receive a Drama award Colors for Drama.

Munya then went on to get a Bachelor of Arts degree in Motion Picture at The South African School of Motion Picture Medium and Live Performance in Cape Town, South Africa. [4] Where he was nominated for best actor

Personal life

Chidzonga married 2008 Idols East Africa finalist Adiona Maboreke at a private ceremony in Harare in 2012. [8] Chidzonga and Maboreke had been dating since 2009 and had a son named Pfumai, born in 2010, prior to the marriage. [8] [9] The couple had a second son, named Diwai, born in 2015. [10] [11]

Bernard Mizeki College is an independent boarding school for boys situated in Marondera, Zimbabwe approximately 87 km east of the capital Harare and or 13.5 km north east of Marondera town. It was founded in memory of Bernard Mizeki, an African martyr who died in the Marondera area. The school was established by leading private individuals of the Anglican Church in the then Rhodesia through a deed of trust drafted in 1958 and registered on 29 May 1959 at Harare. <i>Big Brother Africa</i> season 5 Season of television series

Big Brother Africa 5 was the fifth season of the Big Brother Africa reality television series produced by Endemol. The season premiered on Sunday, July 18, 2010 and was broadcast by M-Net and M-NetAfrica for 91 days, concluding on October 17, 2010 when Nigeria's Uti was crowned the ultimate winner. Each week the Housemates nominated two of their own and the public voted to either save or evict them until only 5 Housemates remained on finale night. The grand prize for this season was initially $200,000, however, due to the strike that took place on Day 6, the grand prize was decreased by ten percent meaning that the winner will now receive $180,000. Since that incident and toward the end of the series, the grand prize has been reinstated as $200,000 although this reinstatement was never formally announced to the housemates and the public. 14 African countries took part in this year's series, namely: Angola, Botswana, Ethiopia, Ghana, Kenya, Malawi, Mozambique, Namibia, Nigeria, South Africa, Tanzania, Uganda, Zambia and Zimbabwe). This season also use some of the game mechanics from the Secret Story franchise.

Springvale House Preparatory School is an independent, preparatory, boarding and day school in Mashonaland East, Zimbabwe that was established in 1952. The school shares facilities with Peterhouse Girls' School on the Springvale Estate of approximately 1,200 acres (490 ha) with Gosho Park, a conservation area on the estate, being adjacent to the two schools. The majority of the pupil population are boarders while the remainder are day scholars.

Gosho Park is a conservation area of approximately 340 hectares of land on the Springvale Estate, situated in Mashonaland East, Zimbabwe. The park, named after Patrick Gosho and owned by the Peterhouse Group of Schools, is enclosed by a 2.3 metres (7.5 ft) game fence. The park is an area of Brachystegia woodland with two streams, their associated grasslands and rocky outcrops. 237 species of birds have been recorded by the Mashonaland East Birding Group with a variety of Brachystegia species such as the spotted creeper, miombo and rufous-bellied tits. There are 72 species of trees in the area as recorded by the Tree Society.

Tlou Cleopas Monyepao, professionally known as DJ Cleo, is a South African Kwaito, House music and Hip hop producer. He was born in Gauteng. Something Nice from London is a 2013 Zimbabwean British drama film written by Petina Gappah and directed by Nick Marcq. The film stars Munya Chidzonga, Tonderai Munyebvu and Lovewell Chisango in the lead roles while Memory Busoso, Rambidzai Karize and Lauren Marshall play supportive roles. The film is titled ironically as its climax is linked with the untimely death of Peter who dies in London under mysterious circumstances. The film is a joint collaboration of Britain based Latimer Films and British Council. The movie is inspired and adapted from Petina Gappah's short story with the same title which was a part of the award-winning anthology An Elergy For Easterly. The film had its theatrical release on 1 April 2015 coinciding the April Fools' Day but it was screened in few film festivals in late 2013.
