Murad Quenili

Murad Quenili is the appointed governor of Jowzjan Province, Afghanistan. [1]

Quenili was appointed in July 2013, succeeding Mohammad Aleem Sayee. He was born in the village of Qoyunly in the Mingajik District of Jowzjan. Prior to his appointment as governor, he was a member of the Afghanistan House of Elders, representing Jowzjan.

Juma Khan Hamdard is an Afghan politician. He served as the security adviser to President Ashraf Ghani. He served as governor of Paktia Province from 2007 to 2015, previously serving as governor of Baghlan and later Jowzjan province. He is the head of the alliance of H.A.A Councils.

Aqcha is a district situated in the central part of Jowzjan province in northern Afghanistan. It borders Mardyan and Mingajik districts to the north, Sheberghan District to the West, Sar-e Pol Province to the south and Fayzabad District to the east. The population is more than 90,652 people (2012). The district capital is the city of Aqcha, which is situated in the northern, more populated part of the district. The region is known for traditional carpets and rugs. The main road from Sheberghan to Mazar-i-Sharif passes a few kilometers south of the city of Aqcha.

Mohammad Hashim Zare is the current governor of Samangan, Afghanistan. Before this he had been an adviser to President Hamid Karzai. He is an ethnic Uzbek.

Andkhoy District is a district in Faryab province, Afghanistan. The district center is the Andkhoy city, and there are a total of 81 villages in the district. Most people farm or raise livestock in the district. The district is considered to be government-influenced, as opposed to the Taliban.

Qari Hekmatullah was an Uzbek Islamic militant and commander for the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant in Afghanistan. With his main base of operations in Darzab District and Qush Tepa District of Jowzjan Province, he extended IS influence into Faryab Province and Sar-e Pol Province.

Following heavy clashes, IS-KP was defeated, with most of the group's forces in Jowzjan Province killed or captured.

Mufti Nemat, also known as Mufti Nematullah Qaweem Persian: نعمت الله قاویم or Mullah Nemat Mufti, is an Afghan militant and Salafist cleric who served as a field commander for the Taliban and later the Islamic State's Khorasan Province (ISIL-K) in northern Afghanistan, particularly Jowzjan Province. While waging an insurgency against the Afghan government, he has been accused of committing several war crimes.

Abdul Salam Hanafi is an Afghan Uzbek political and Deobandi-Islamic religious leader who is a senior leader of the Taliban, an acting second deputy prime minister, alongside Abdul Ghani Baradar and Abdul Kabir, of Afghanistan since 2021, and was a central member of the negotiation team in the Qatar office. He has also served as deputy minister of education in the Taliban government from 1996-2001. After the Taliban government collapse in 2001, following the United States invasion of Afghanistan, Hanafi was appointed by the Taliban leadership as a top general to oversee the Taliban’s military activities in Jowzjan Province, Northern Afghanistan from May 2007 until sometime in 2008.

Shiekh Mohammad Qasim Rasikh Turkmen is an Afghan Taliban leader and Hadith scholar. He is currently serving as Deputy Chief Justice of Supreme Court of the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan alongside Sheikh Abdul Malik since 28 October 2021. He has also served as a member of the negotiation team in the Qatar office.
