On January 14, 2024, 34-year-old British man Adrian "Adi" Whiting was murdered outside of the Carpenters Arms pub in Boston, Lincolnshire, England. [1] Whiting was struck on the head with a baseball bat while his wife and children were inside the building. [2] The murderer was identified as 36-year-old Maksim Iliev.

Event

Iliev was seen having an altercation with his partner outside of the building. Whiting, an employee of the pub, walked out with a bat, which was ripped from his hands and used to murder him. [3] Whiting died ten days after the attack in hospital on January 24, 2024, and had his organs donated, saving five lives in the process. [4]

Iliev was arrested and sentence to jail for 17 years. His partner, Katya Tsoneva, was also jailed for two years for plotting to help Iliev flee the country. [5]

On October 3, 2025, Rumen Dambinov was taken into custody for helping hide Maksim Iliev and trying to raise money for the man to flee to Bulgaria. [6] [7]
