The Murrum Silli Dam or Babu Chhotelal Shrivastav Dam, also spelled Madam Silli and Mordem Silli, is an earth-fill embankment dam on the Sillari River, a tributary of the Mahanadi in central eastern India. It was built under the supervision of British Raj governor Madam Silli for whom it was originally named. It is located in Dhamtari District of Chhattisgarh. Built between 1914 and 1923, it is the first dam in Asia to have siphon spillways. Madamsilli is about 95 km from Raipur. It is one of the most prominent architectural marvels in Chhattisgarh. Its primary purpose is irrigation. [2]

On 3 June 1929 R.S. Rajendranath Sur (government civil engineer, Central province) was awarded by George V the title of "Rai Saheb" for his exemplary works on Murrum Silli Dam.[ citation needed ]

Gangrel Dam officially the Pandit Ravishankar Sagar is located in Chhattisgarh, India. It is built across the Mahanadi River. It is located in Dhamtari district, about 17 km from Dhamtari and about 90 km from Raipur. It is the longest & largest dam in Chhattisgarh. This dam supplies year round irrigation, allowing farmers to harvest two crops per year and key water supplier of Bhilai Steel Plant. The dam also supplies 10 MW of hydro-electric power capacity.

Sondur River is a tributary of Mahanadi and located in Chhattisgarh, India. The river originates from village Navrangpur located in Koraput District of Orissa and meets the Pairi river near Malgaon. Sondur dam is built across this river with the assistance of World Bank near Gram Machka in Dhamtari district. The river flows through Sitandi sanctuary before merging with Mahanadi.

Dudhawa Dam is located in Dhamtari district of Chhattisgarh in India. The construction of the dam began in 1953 and finished in 1964. It is built across the Mahanadi river in the village of Dudhawa, 21 km from Sihawa and 29 km from Kanker. The height of the dam is 24.53 m and the length 2,906.43 m. The reservoir has a catchment area of 625.27 km2. This is one of earthen dams, of which right flank embankment, there is rest house.

Babu Chotelal Srivastava was a freedom fighter in the area that would later become Chhattisgarh. He was born on 28 February 1889 in Kandel. His participation in national movements began after he met Pt. Sundarlal Sharma. In 1915, he established the Srivastava Library. His house in Dhamtari was a major center of the freedom struggle in the Indian independence movement. He was also among the principal organizers of the Dhamtari Tehsil Political Council in the year 1918. Chhotelal Srivastava was most famous for organizing the Kandel Nehar Satyagraha, a rebellion against the British Raj.
