Yonkers is the third-most populous city in the U.S. state of New York and the most-populous city in Westchester County. A centrally located municipality within the New York metropolitan area, Yonkers had a population of 211,569 at the 2020 United States census. Yonkers is classified as an inner suburb of New York City, immediately north of the Bronx and approximately 2.4 miles (4 km) north of Marble Hill.
Hastings-on-Hudson is a village in Westchester County located in the southwestern part of the town of Greenburgh in the state of New York, United States. It is a suburb of New York City, located approximately 20 miles (32 km) north of midtown Manhattan, and is served by a stop on the Metro-North Hudson Line. To the north of Hastings-on-Hudson is the village of Dobbs Ferry, to the south, the city of Yonkers, and to the east unincorporated parts of Greenburgh. As of the 2020 US Census, it had a population of 8,590. The town lies on U.S. Route 9, "Broadway" and the Saw Mill River Parkway.

Crestwood is a neighborhood in Yonkers, New York. Located in northeastern Yonkers, Crestwood is separated by the Bronx River from the village of Tuckahoe. Because the majority of Crestwood is served by the Tuckahoe post office, many residents identify their location as Tuckahoe or Crestwood, rather than Yonkers. Closer to the Crestwood train station, several grand homes occupy the hilly ground overlooking the river.

The Yonkers Museum, founded in 1919 at City Hall, became the Hudson River Museum in 1948. While often considered an art museum due to its extensive collection of Hudson River School paintings, the museum also presents exhibits on the history, science and heritage of the region and features the only public planetarium in the county.

MTA Regional Bus Operations operates local and express buses serving New York City in the United States out of 29 bus depots. These depots are located in all five boroughs of the city, plus one located in nearby Yonkers in Westchester County. 21 of these depots serve MTA New York City Transit (NYCT)'s bus operations, while the remaining eight serve the MTA Bus Company These facilities perform regular maintenance, cleaning, and painting of buses, as well as collection of revenue from bus fareboxes. Several of these depots were once car barns for streetcars, while others were built much later and have only served buses.

The Theodore Roosevelt High School was a public high school opened in 1926, operated by Yonkers Public Schools, located on the corner of Tuckahoe Road and Central Park Avenue in Yonkers, New York. It shared its campus with Early College High School from 2010, which completely replaced Roosevelt High School in 2013. Then, due to fierce opposition by alumni, on June 18, 2014, the Yonkers Board of Education voted to rename Early College High School, to the new name of Roosevelt High School – Early College Studies.
Riverside High School for Engineering and Design is Yonkers' 6th public high school. It opened to 9th grade students in September 2007. Riverside High School is also known as RED and aims to be environmentally friendly. Its first graduating class is the class of 2011. This building was constructed in 1990 and opened in 1992 as Museum Middle School.
Lincoln High School is located in Yonkers, New York. It is one of the seven public high schools in the city and has an enrollment of about 1200 students. The front portion of the building was opened in 1953 as Southeast Yonkers Jr., Sr. High School with grades six through eight. It was completed in 1955 and renamed Lincoln Junior-Senior High School the following year. After the first year, sixth grade was dropped and ninth grade added and when the building was completed it became Lincoln Junior-Senior High School, enrolling grades seven through twelve. In the 1970s, the junior high grades were sequentially eliminated and the school became a four-year, grade nine to twelve, high school. Some members of the class of 1976 went to the school for grades seven to twelve. It was not named for United States President Abraham Lincoln. The school was named Lincoln High School after the Lincoln Park area of Yonkers where it is located. The first graduating class, which went continuously from sixth grade to 12th grade, graduated in 1960. A very high percentage of that class went on to college and several of its graduates returned to Lincoln as teachers. The school colors are purple and white. Its mascot is a knight holding a lance, and its athletic teams are known as the Lincoln Lancers. Both colors and mascot were chosen by the class of 1960.
Palisade Preparatory School was a public middle high school and a former College Board School, comprising grades 7–12, in Yonkers, New York, United States. It was operated by the Yonkers Public Schools since its founding in September 2008 until its closure in June 2022. At the June 14, 2022 Board of Education Stated Meeting, the school was renamed the Barack Obama School for Social Justice beginning with the 2022-23 school year.
