The Music Managers Forum (MMF) is the world's largest professional membership organisation representing music managers. At present the MMF membership stands at over 950 managers based in the UK with global businesses and a wider network of 2700 managers in the USA. [1]
Founded in 1992 at the In the City conference in Manchester and formally incorporated in January 1993 as The Managers Forum Ltd. [2]
The co-chairs at the time Diane Wagg and Stephen Budd appointed Annabella Coldrick as CEO in January 2016. [3] Music Managers Forum appoints new CEO.
Following a change in governance, in July 2017 a round of board elections was held. Designed to increase diversity and inclusivity, the new rules mean the board must rotate annually. Board members are now elected to serve only a fixed three-year term, and at least five members will be required to stand down each year.
During 2017’s board elections, Stephen Budd stepped down as co-chair, with Diane Wagg becoming the sole-chair, and Biffy Clyro manager Paul Craig stepping into the newly created role of Vice Chair. [4]
In 2018 Paul Craig was elected by the Board as Chair with Kwame Kwaten as Vice-Chair.
In April 2019 Fiona McGugan was named the MMF's Director of Strategy & Operations. [5] She left the organisation in November 2019 after 8 years with the MMF to join law firm Simons, Muirhead & Burton.
In September 2019 Jayne Stynes was appointed General Manager of the MMF. With six years experience at Eleven Management, Stynes has worked extensively on live and recorded campaigns for artists including Damon Albarn, Blur, Gorillaz, The Clash, Spoek Mathambo, Róisín Murphy and Kano. [6]
The MMF runs training programmes, courses, and events designed to educate and inform artist managers.
Courses and events run so far have included the MMF Essentials of Music Management Day [7] course which runs four times a year, the Mechanics of Music Management programme, as well as regular seminars, open meetings, roundtables, and workshops.
MMF represents its members' views through consultations and submissions to Governments, statements within the media, membership of UK Music and dialogue with collecting societies.
The MMF is a founding member of European Music Managers Alliance (EMMA) [8] and the Council of Music Makers (CMM). [9]
Campaigns the MMF are currently participating in include “Dissecting the Digital Dollar,” [10] and tackling Secondary Ticketing through the “FanFair Alliance” campaign. [11]

Educating the world on the role of the music manager: helping people understand the increasingly important role of the manager, how it is changing and what it is managers do. In November 2019 the MMF published Managing Expectations - a new report exploring the evolution of management and management deals. [13]
Professional development: supporting MMF members in developing their knowledge and skills as music managers through formal courses and more focused workshops and seminars.
Investment into Music Industry: encouraging more investment into manager and artists’ businesses, including the MMF Accelerator For Music, Managers Programme, supported by YouTube Music [14] and artist investment opportunities such as labels, distributors, Help Musicians UK, PRS for Music, SME funding and Arts Council grants.
Representation: Campaigning on behalf of MMF members to affect change.
Music Managers Forum has partnered with Featured Artists' Coalition to organize an annual ceremony, the Artist & Manager Awards, "to celebrate the achievements of a whole spectrum of artists and managers". Honorary awards include the FanFair Alliance Award. [15] Music funding platform, beatBread, was the headline sponsor of the 2022 awards. [16]
PRS for Music Limited is a British music copyright collective, made up of two collection societies: the Mechanical-Copyright Protection Society (MCPS) and the Performing Right Society (PRS). It undertakes collective rights management for musical works on behalf of its 160,000 members. PRS for Music was formed in 1997 following the MCPS-PRS Alliance. In 2009, PRS and MCPS-PRS Alliance realigned their brands and became PRS for Music.
Phonographic Performance Limited (PPL) is a British music copyright collective. It is a private limited company that is registered in the UK. PPL was founded by Decca Records and EMI and incorporated on 12 May 1934, and undertakes collective rights management of sound recordings on behalf of its record-company members, and distributes the fees collected to both its record company (rights holder) members and performer members. As of 2022, PPL collected royalties for over 140,000 performers and recording rightsholders.

The Ivors Academy is one of the largest professional associations for music writers in Europe. The academy exists to support, protect, and campaign for the interests of songwriters, lyricists, and composers. It represents music writers of all genres and has approximately 2000 members.
Kwame Amankwa Kwaten is a British manager, music consultant, musician and record producer. He owns an artist management and consultancy company called Ferocious Talent and is a co-founder of Cr8ing Vision, a non-profit company that offers young people a range of educational programmes, seminars, workshops and opportunities in both the music and sport industries. Past and present artists managed by Kwaten include Laura Mvula, The Night VI, Steve Brown, Shannon Saunders and Kerry Leatham.
The New Zealand Music Commission (NZMC) is a government funded arts agency committed to growing New Zealand music business, both domestically and internationally. It is governed by a board of trustees made up of members representing most areas of the New Zealand music industry, including musicians & managers through the Music Managers Forum (MMF), independent labels through Independent Music NZ (IMNZ), major labels through the Recording Industry Association of NZ (RIANZ), and songwriters through the Australasian Performing Right Association (APRA.)

Stephen Budd is a British music industry executive based in London. He is a director of artist and producer management company Stephen Budd Music Ltd, the OneFest Festival, the Africa Express project and is the co-founder of the NH7 Weekender festivals in India. He is a recognised TV commentator on music industry issues, regularly appearing on a variety of British TV news shows. In June 2017 he completed his 3-year term as co-chairman of the MMF. He is a co-executive producer of Amnesty International and Sofar Sounds' ‘Give A Home’ global concert series. His current management roster includes the artists Dry The River and Nubiyan Twist, along with the record producers Rob Ellis, Tore Johansson, Valgeir Sigurdsson, Nick Zinner, Mike Hedges, and Arthur Verocai.
Muneeza Hashmi is a broadcaster, television producer, actress and a former general manager of the Pakistan Television Corporation (PTV). Hashmi has over four decades of experience working with public media. She is currently the General Manager International Relations at Hum TV. She is the youngest daughter of the prominent Pakistani poet Faiz Ahmed Faiz.

It was formed in 2009 from the music assets of Koch Entertainment, which had been acquired by the present-day Entertainment One (eOne) in 2004. In April 2021, after the acquisition of eOne by Hasbro, the company announced that it would sell eOne Music to The Blackstone Group.

Keith Harris OBE is an English music industry consultant and artist manager, who is the former chair of UK Music's Diversity & Equality Taskforce. Harris has worked in the music industry on both sides of the Atlantic for more than four decades as a promotions manager, including for such major companies as Transatlantic Records, EMI and Motown, and he is one of the most high-profile black executives in the business, with artists he has represented including Stevie Wonder, Junior Giscombe, Omar, and Lynden David Hall. Harris serves in non-executive director and board positions across multiple music charities and companies, while regularly giving talks, seminars and workshops to aiming to change perceptions and help to give young people the tools to enter the industry.
iluvlive was founded in 2004 and is a not for profit company supported by Arts Council England and became a national portfolio company in April 2015. Initially launched by Jade Richardson, it is now owned by Rachael Bee who is also CEO. iluvlive is a live music and artist development company running showcase events, promoted shows for artists and an artist development programme. They also have a management arm and record label.
