Mwingi Central is a constituency in Kenya. It is one of eight constituencies in Kitui County [1] [2] and includes the former constituency of Mwingi South. [3] Since 2017, Gideon Mutemi Mulyungi has represented the constituency in the National Assembly. [4]
The Kenya African National Union (KANU) is a Kenyan political party that ruled for nearly 40 years after Kenya's independence from British colonial rule in 1963 until its electoral loss in 2002. It was known as Kenya African Union (KAU) from 1944 to 1952. The KAU was banned by the colonial government from 1952 to 1960. It was re-established by James Gichuru in 1960 and renamed KANU on 14 May 1960 after a merger with Tom Mboya's Kenya Independence Movement.
Stephen Kalonzo Musyoka is a Kenyan politician who was the tenth Vice-President of Kenya from 2008 to 2013. Musyoka served in the government under President Daniel arap Moi and was Minister for Foreign Affairs from 1993 until 1998; subsequently, under President Mwai Kibaki, he was Minister of Foreign Affairs again from 2003 to 2004, then Minister of the Environment from 2004 to 2005. He was the chairman of the African Union Parliamentary Group. He was also the chief whip succeeding from Hon. Jakoyo Midiwo. He was a member in the Parliamentary House Business Committee, Committee on Selection and the Lands Committee (Departmental). He is also a former mayor of Malindi Town and represented Malindi in the last parliament before it was split.
Sammy Silas Komen Mwaita is a Kenyan politician. He is a member of the United Republican Party (URP)and is a former MP in the National Assembly of Kenya.
David Musila is a Kenyan politician. He belongs to the Wiper Democratic Movement and was elected to represent Mwingi South Constituency in the National Assembly of Kenya since the Kenyan parliamentary election of 1997. He is currently a senator representing Kitui County. Musila was a DO, DC and deputy PC between 1966 and 1979. In 1979, he was Moi's choice as PC for the troubled Central Province, a post which he retained until 1985, after which he became Director of Tourism. He retired from the civil service in 1988. He was elected as a KANU MP in 1997 and has remained in the house ever since, moving to the LDP wing of NARC in 2002, and was Deputy-Speaker in the 2003 Parliament. He was a KANU official in the 1990s and later became Deputy Chairman and then Chairman of the Liberal Democratic party (LDP).

He has served as the chairman of the Law Society of Kenya and as the treasurer of the East Africa Law Society He unsuccessfully contested for Mwingi Central constituency Wiper Democratic Movement-Kenya (WDM-K) nominations where he lost to Gideon Mulyungi, the incumbent Member of Parliament.
