The Bangladesh Awami League, simply known as Awami League, is one of the major political parties in Bangladesh. The oldest existing political party in the country, the party played a large role in achieving Bangladeshi independence both before and after the Bangladesh Liberation War. It is also one of the two most dominant parties in the country, along with its archrival Bangladesh Nationalist Party. Throughout its tenure as the ruling party from January 6, 2009 to August 5, 2024, it has been consistently described as authoritarian and dictatorial.
Sheikh Hasina Wazed is a Bangladeshi politician who served as the tenth prime minister of Bangladesh from June 1996 to July 2001 and again from January 2009 to August 2024. Syed Nazrul Islam was a Bangladeshi politician and a senior leader of the Awami League. During the Bangladesh Liberation War, he was declared as the Vice President of Bangladesh by the Provisional Government. He served as the Acting President in the absence of Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.
Khondaker Mostaq Ahmad was a Bangladeshi politician. He was the Minister of Commerce in the third Mujib Rahman ministry under Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, and assumed the presidency of Bangladesh after the Assassination of Sheikh Mujibur Rahman on August 15, 1975. He praised the assassins as "sons of the sun" and put cabinet ministers loyal to Sheikh Mujibur Rahman in jail. He was himself deposed by another coup, less than three months later on November 3, 1975.
Gopalganj is a district in the Dhaka Division of Bangladesh. The district has 1,172,415 inhabitants and its surface area is 1,490 km2. The main town of the district is also called Gopalganj. It is the bank of the Madhumati river and located at 23°00’47.67" N 89°49’21.41". This district is also known as "GP" to the youth. Gopalganj is subdivided into five sub-districts (upazila/thana).

Akbar Ali Khan was a Bangladeshi economist and educationist who served as a bureaucrat until 2001. He was a sub-divisional officer of Habiganj during the Bangladesh Liberation War when he decided to join the war. Later he served as an official of the Mujibnagar Government. After independence, he rejoined the civil service and reached the highest post of Cabinet Secretary. In the meanwhile, he also worked as a university teacher. Towards the end of 2006, he became one of the advisers of the Caretaker Government led by President Iajuddin Ahmed. He resigned along with three other advisers, namely, Hasan Mashhud Chowdhury, C M Shafi Sami and Sultana Kamal on the grounds of dissatisfaction with President Dr. Iajuddin Ahmed caretaker government. According to them, there was no scope to contribute in the caretaker government to create a congenial atmosphere for holding a free and fair election. In October 2007, the Government of Bangladesh constituted a Regulatory Reforms Commission (RRC) with him as the chair.
Nayeemul Islam Khan, is a media personality in Bangladesh who had been active in Bangladeshi journalism since 1982. He was the press secretary to the former prime ministerc of Bangladesh Sheikh Hasina. Prior to his appointment at the Prime Minister's Office, Mr. Khan worked as the emeritus editor of the Bengali-language daily Amader Notun Shomoy, daily Amader Orthoneeti and English-language daily The Our Time.
Bangabandhu Memorial Museum, also known as Bangabandhu Bhaban or Dhanmondi 32, located in Dhanmondi, Dhaka, Bangladesh, was the personal residence of Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, who was also called Bangabandhu, the founder and president of Bangladesh. Mujib was assassinated with most members of his family in this residence. The museum was listed as a national heritage site in 2009 by RAJUK and was largely damaged in 2024.
The Dainik Bangla is a Bengali-language daily newspaper in Bangladesh. The newspaper was closed in 1997 and was later revived on 4 September 2022 by an editorial panel led by Nazrul Islam Mazumder and Chowdhury Nafeez Sharafat.
Mahbubul Alam Hanif is a Bangladeshi politician and businessman. He is a former member of parliament for Kushtia-3 served in 2014. Currently he is a joint general secretary of the Awami League. He worked at the Prime Minister's Office as special assistant to Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina from 2009 to 2013.
Nazrul Islam Babu is a Bangladesh Awami League politician and the incumbent member of parliament for Narayanganj-2.
Mohammad Nazrul Islam, better known as Asif Nazrul, is a Bangladeshi writer, novelist, columnist, political commentator, and a professor of law at the University of Dhaka. Renowned for his bold critique of Bangladeshi politics, Nazrul wrote more than ten novels and nonfiction books. He has been serving as an adviser of the interim government of Bangladesh since 8 August 2024 and as Minister of Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs.
Abidur Reza Khan was a Bangladesh Awami League politician. In 1946, while he was attending Rajendra College, where he met Bangabandhu and begun his student politics. He was the first Faridpur District Muslim/student League President. 1952, he played a major role during the Vasha Andolon. In 1964, Bangabandhu gave him the responsibility to organize the lawyers at the Supreme Court. In 1966, during struggle against Pakistan, he assisted Bangabandhu with the Six Points Programme of the Awami League. In 1968 during the Agartala Conspiracy Case, Abidur Reza Khan was one of the first lawyer who did not care for his life and represented Bangabandhu. He was elected MNA 1970. On 20 April 1971, General Tikka Khan ordered Abidur Reza Khan along with Nazrul Islam, Tazzuddin Ahmad, Abdul Mannan, and Tofael Ahmed to surrender for treason.
Mujib: The Making of a Nation is a 2023 epic biographical film based on the life of Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, the founding father and first president of Bangladesh who is popularly known as Bangabandhu. A co-production between Bangladesh and India, the film was directed by Shyam Benegal and stars Arifin Shuvoo in the titular role.
Syed Shafayetul Islam is a retired major general of the Bangladesh Army and a politician. He served as Military Secretary to Prime Minister of Bangladesh, Sheikh Hasina, from 1996 to March 2000.
Mausoleum of Kazi Nazrul Islam is a mausoleum in Dhaka, Bangladesh. It marks the grave of the 20th century writer, poet and musician Kazi Nazrul Islam, Bangladesh’s national poet. He died 29 August 1976.
