NYYD Ensemble

NYYD Ensemble is an Estonian contemporary music ensemble. It is named as the most prominent contemporary music ensemble in Estonia. [1]

The ensemble was founded in 1993 by Olari Elts. The ensemble's artistic director and conductor is Olari Elts. [1]

The ensemble has performed mainly 20th century music. Special focus is on works by Estonian composers, like Eino Tamberg, Erkki-Sven Tüür, Tõnu Kõrvits, Helena Tulve. [1]

The ensemble has participated on many international festivals, including Warsaw Autumn, MaerzMusik, Aterforum Ferrera, Gaida. [1]

The Estonian Academy of Music and Theatre began as a mixed choir of the Estonia Society Musical Department (EMD) on the eve of World War I. The Kymi Sinfonietta is a sinfonietta-sized orchestra based in two Finnish cities, Kotka and Kouvola. The Kymi Sinfonietta was formed in 1999 after merging the Kotka and Kouvola City Orchestras and it is currently an ensemble of 31 regular players. Kymi Sinfonietta’s public performances range from about 100 to nearly 200 performances per year. Concerts by the Kymi Sinfonietta are held at Kotka Concert Hall on Wednesdays and Kouvola City Hall or Kuusankoski Hall on Thursdays.
