Na Hearadh agus Ceann a Deas nan Loch ( Scottish Gaelic for 'Harris and South of The Lochs') was one of the nine wards of Comhairle nan Eilean Siar ( Scottish Gaelic for 'Council of the Western Isles'). Created in 2007, the ward elected three councillors using the single transferable vote electoral system. As a result of the Islands (Scotland) Act 2018, the ward was abolished in 2022.

Contents

Independents have dominated elections in the Western Isles and the majority of the councillors elected in the area had no party affiliation. However, the Scottish National Party (SNP) also held one seat at each election.

The election was the first one using 9 new wards created as a result of the Local Governance (Scotland) Act 2004, each ward elected three or four councillors using the single transferable vote system form of proportional representation. The new wards replaced 31 single-member wards which used the plurality system of election.
