Umeshkumar Tilak Yadav is an Indian cricketer who represented the Indian cricket team. He currently plays for Vidarbha in domestic cricket and Gujarat Titans in the Indian Premier League. He played 57 test matches for India and his fast-bowling contributed of India winning test matches particularly at home. Yadav was a member of the team that won the 2013 ICC Champions Trophy. He was the highest wicket-taker for India in the 2015 Cricket World Cup.

Since the best safeguard for the minority was the goodwill of the majority. He never permitted his critical faculties to be blurred by emotion. Mahatma Gandhi admiring his calm logic, confided in him and often sought his counsel. He was chosen to arbitrate the disputes between Subhash Chandra Bose and Jatindra Mohan Sengupta. He was never a breaker or a destroyer but was always a cementing factor believing in synthesis and not in segregation.

Vidarbha made their Ranji Trophy debut in the 1957–58 season, making it the third-longest wait before a team won their maiden title. Vidarbha's captain, Faiz Fazal, said that "winning the Ranji Trophy has been the biggest achievement in my career".

It was played as a one-off match between the Vidarbha and Rest of India cricket team, from 12 February 2019 to 16 February 2019. In April 2018, ESPNcricinfo had reported that Irani Cup was proposed to be no more part of the domestic season but it was included in the final schedule released by BCCI in July. Vidarbha successfully defended their title and defeated Rest of India on first-innings basis to win the tournament. Vidarbha became the third team after Bombay and Karnataka to defend both the Ranji Trophy and Irani Cup. Hanuma Vihari became the first player to score 3 consecutive centuries in Irani Cup.

The 2021–22 Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy was the fourteenth edition of the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy, an annual Twenty20 tournament in India. Played from 4 to 22 November 2021, it was contested by all 38 Ranji Trophy teams and won by defending champions Tamil Nadu, their third title. The tournament formed part of the 2021–22 Indian domestic cricket season, which was announced by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) in July 2021.
