The Nalaikh Coal Mine was a coal mine in Nalaikh, Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia. It was the first mine in the country.
The mine was established on 25 December 1922 as the first mining in Mongolia. [1] In 1938, a railway line was built connecting Nalaikh to the city center of Ulaanbaatar to transport the coal from Nalaikh mine. [2] In 1954–1958, the mine underwent technological upgrade and expansion. [3] The mine was officially closed in 1990. [4]
