Dhaka is the capital and one of the oldest cities of Bangladesh. The history of Dhaka begins with the existence of urbanised settlements in the area that is now Dhaka dating from the 7th century CE. The city area was ruled by the Buddhist and shaivite Pala Empire before passing to the control of the Sena dynasty in the 10th century CE. After the Sena dynasty, Dhaka was successively ruled by the Turkic and Afghan governors descending from the Delhi Sultanate, followed by the Bengal Sultanate, before the arrival of the Mughals in 1608. The city became proto-industrialised and declared capital of the Mughal Bengal. After Mughals, British ruled the region for 200 years until the independence of India. In 1947, Dhaka became the capital of the East Bengal province under the Dominion of Pakistan. After the independence of Bangladesh in 1971, Dhaka became the capital of the new state.

The Dhaka Christian Cemetery is a graveyard situated in Wari, a district of the old town in Dhaka, Bangladesh. It was established by Portuguese traders in the 17th Century and is still in use by members of the Dhaka Christian community. It contains two designated archeological sites, the Columbo Sahib mausoleum and the tomb of Reverend Joseph Paget. Many of the oldest graves and mausoleums are in a state of disrepair and are being overtaken by unchecked vegetation growth and lack of maintenance, while other parts of the cemetery still see new burials taking place at regular intervals. It is open to visitors on a daily basis.

Gendaria is a Thana of Dhaka District in the Division of Dhaka, Bangladesh. Its area is 1.83 square kilometres (0.71 sq mi). The name is a portmanteau of original name Grand Area, still found in deeds prior to 1950s.

Shaikh Burhanuddin Post Graduate College is prominent and old university college in old Dhaka. Neda-e-Islam established Shaikh Burhanuddin Post Graduate College in 1965 at 50,Narinda, Dhaka after the demise of the Great Reformer Imaamut Tareeqat Allama Shaykh Sayyid Muhammad Burhanuddin Uwaysi (Rad.) to commemorate his holy name. From the year 1949 Imaamut Tareeqat (Rad.) established and run successfully twenty Institutions in his lifetime, and Shaikh Burhanuddin College is the 21st institution of Neda-e-Islam. Later, it was shifted to 60,Nazimuddin Road, Dhaka on 8 February 1968. To implement Article 3(C) of the Memorandum of Neda-e-Islam to precipitate the needed Islamic Spiritual Reformed Environment in General and Modern Education, it is absolutely free from student politics as the founder organization Neda-e-Islam is absolutely non-political.

The Portuguese were the first Europeans to arrive in Bengal as well as in Dhaka. The Portuguese who came to Dhaka were mostly missionaries and merchants came from their main base in Hugli.

Hrishikesh Das Road is a traditional street situated in Sutrapur, Dhaka. Its alternative name is Hrishikesh Das Lane. Its length is 1 km. Include the road, there are many routes as main entryway to Sutrapur. There are several old and traditional structures along the road.
