Naseer Abdullah (6 May 1956) is an Indian model and actor best known for his role as Prithvi in the English-language film Mitr, My Friend (2002). [1]

Career

Naseer Abdullah worked as a location manager for Gandhi (1982). [2] He made his debut in the stage play Mischief Mania (1992) by Pearl Padamsee. He made his film debut with Dil Aashna Hai (1993) and after the film's failure he shifted to advertisements for Digjam and Indian Airlines. [3] He played the antagonist in the television serial Kya Hadsaa Kya Haqeeqat . [4] He played Shobana's workaholic husband in the film Mitr, My Friend (2002), which follows an Indian-American family and their life and struggles in San Francisco. A critic wrote that "Nasir Abdullah makes his presence felt" while another critic wrote that he "now and then does not seem very convinced with what he is doing". [5] [6] [7] He went on to play supporting roles in many films including Main Hoon Na (2004), Page 3 (2005), Kuchh Meetha Ho Jaye (2005), Om Shanti Om (2007) and Gandhi to Hitler (2011). [8] [9]

Mitr, My Friend is a 2002 Indian English-language drama film directed by Revathi in her directorial debut, and written by V. Priya and Sudha Kongara. The film stars Shobana, Nasir Abdullah and Preeti Vissa. Set partly in India and the US, the film was also noted for having an all-woman crew. The movie won the Best English Film of the year award at the 49th National Film Awards. The movie also won Best Actress and Best Editor awards for Shobhana and Beena Paul respectively at the same function. Revathi received the "Special Jury Award: Silver Peacock" at the 33rd International Film Festival of India. The film also contains Tamil dialogues while some of the songs are in Hindi.

Dear Friend Hitler, released in India as Gandhi to Hitler, is a 2011 Indian Hindi-language war drama film based on letters written by Mahatma Gandhi to the leader of the Nazi Party and Chancellor of Germany and Nazi German dictator Adolf Hitler. The film, starring Raghubir Yadav as Adolf Hitler and Neha Dhupia as Eva Braun, was directed by Rakesh Ranjan Kumar and produced by Anil Kumar Sharma under the production house Amrapali media vision. It was screened at the 61st Berlin International Film Festival where it received negative reviews. Film Business Asia quoted that "despite the provocative title, the film is not a tribute to the murderous Führer". It premiered in India on 29 July 2011.
