The Nassau Championship is a preseason college basketball tournament, first held in 2017, designed strictly for mid-major NCAA Division I programs. The first two years were played at Kendal Isaacs National Gymnasium. [1] in Nassau, Bahamas. The 2019 Tournament was moved to Baha Mar Convention Center due to damage Kendal Isaacs National Gymnasium suffered during Hurricane Dorian. [3]

The field of eight teams that competed in the inaugural event was unveiled on 29 September 2017. [1] The tournament began on 17 November and concluded on 19 November. [9]

Nassau is the capital and largest city of The Bahamas. It is located on the island of New Providence, which had a population of 246,329 in 2010, or just over 70% of the entire population of The Bahamas. The 2017 Commonwealth Youth Games, officially known as the VI Commonwealth Youth Games, and commonly known as Bahamas 2017, or Nassau 2017, was the sixth edition of the Commonwealth Youth Games which started in 2000. The games were held from 19 to 23 July 2017 in Nassau, Bahamas. 64 nations participated at the games. The Bahamas 2017 was the largest international sporting event ever to be hosted in The Bahamas, and the largest-ever edition of the Youth Games, with up to 1300 athletes. During the opening ceremony the Prime Minister of the Bahamas Hubert Minnis declared the games officially open. It was the first the time that the tournament was opened by a prime minister instead of a monarch or a president.

The Las Vegas Invitational is an 8 team college basketball tournament held during Thanksgiving of NCAA Division I men's college basketball season annually since 2003. The Tournament was originally held in the gymnasium of Valley High School, until moving to the new Orleans Arena in 2006.

<span class="mw-page-title-main">Cancún Challenge</span>

The Cancun Challenge is a college basketball tournament organized by Triple Crown Sports which currently features eight NCAA Division I men's basketball teams and ten women's basketball teams. The formats of the men's and women's tournaments have varied from year to year. The men's tournament currently splits the eight teams into two divisions of four and consists of games played in the United States at participants' campus sites followed by a bracketed tournament played in Cancún, Mexico. The women's tournament splits the ten teams into one division of six and one division of four and each features round-robin play in Cancún with no bracket, and therefore no champion. The two divisions in each tournament are the Riviera Division and the Mayan Division.

The Vegas 16 tournament was a postseason men's college basketball tournament. The tournament was managed by Lexington, Kentucky-based sports marketing firm bd Global. The tournament featured eight teams not selected for the NCAA Tournament or the NIT. The lone tournament took place March 28–30, 2016, at Mandalay Bay, in Paradise, Nevada. The tournament field and seedings were announced after the NCAA Tournament field was revealed. CBS Sports Network was the television partner for the quarters, semis, and finals. Former UNLV and Arizona athletic director Jim Livengood was the chair of the tournament. George Raveling, Debbie Antonelli, John Balistere and Brooks Downing were on the selection committee.

The 2016 Vegas 16 Tournament was a single-elimination postseason men's basketball tournament won by Old Dominion. The tournament consisted of eight National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Division I teams that did not receive bids to the NCAA tournament or the NIT.

The Cayman Islands Classic, operated by Caymax Sports Ltd., is a preseason college basketball tournament that takes place in late November of each year, at John Gray Gymnasium in the Cayman Islands. The Cayman Basketball Classic mirrors other popular NCAA preseason basketball tournaments like Hawaii's Maui Invitational Tournament or the Bahamas’ Battle 4 Atlantis. The First Tournament started 20 November 2017 and concluded on 22 November 2017. The Mountain West sponsors the tournament, as a result a Mountain West team will be in the preseason tournament every year.

The Savannah Invitational is a college basketball tournament founded in 2016 that is held at the Savannah Civic Center in Savannah, Georgia. The event includes both a men′s and a women′s tournament.

<span class="mw-page-title-main">The Bahamas Great Abaco Classic</span> Golf tournament in the Bahamas

The Bahamas Great Abaco Classic is a golf tournament on the Korn Ferry Tour, played at the Abaco Club on Winding Bay in the Bahamas. It is one of two Korn Ferry Tour events in the Bahamas, along with The Bahamas Great Exuma Classic. Both events were first played in January 2017 starting on a Sunday and finishing on a Wednesday, rather than the standard Thursday–Sunday schedule. Due to the ongoing recovery efforts on the island from Hurricane Dorian, the 2020 edition was temporarily moved to Baha Mar in Nassau, and retained the Abaco Classic name in its title.

Dame Albertha Magdelina Isaacs DBE was a Bahamian teacher, tennis player, women's rights activist and politician. After a career as an elementary school teacher, she played on the international tennis circuit, winning both singles and doubles titles in the 1930s.

The 2017 Southland Conference baseball tournament was held from May 24 through 27. The top eight regular season finishers of the league's thirteen teams met in the double-elimination tournament to be held at Constellation Field in Sugar Land, Texas. Sam Houston State won their sixth tournament championship to earn the conference's automatic bid to the 2017 NCAA Division I baseball tournament. Abilene Christian and Incarnate Word are ineligible for postseason play as they transition from Division II.

The Basketball Hall of Fame Belfast Classic is an eight team college basketball tournament held in November and December of the NCAA Division I men's basketball season, with the inaugural tournament beginning in 2017. It is currently the only college tournament played across the Atlantic, and the first-ever NCAA basketball games played in Europe. In its inaugural season, only four teams participated, but it was increased for the 2018–19 season to eight teams. In 2017, the four participants played all their games at the SSE Arena in Belfast, Northern Ireland, with the winners moving on to the championship game, and the losers playing in the consolation game. Towson was the inaugural champion, defeating Manhattan 56–55, and winning the game on a last second shot by Tigers senior guard Mike Morsell.

The 2022–23 Horizon League men's basketball season began with practices in September 2022 and ended with the 2023 Horizon League men's basketball tournament in March 2023. This wase the 43rd season for Horizon League men's basketball. This was the first season in conference history with 11 teams, as UIC departed for the Missouri Valley Conference following the 2021-22 season.
