Nathan Rennie (born 31 May 1981) is an Australian professional downhill mountain bike racer. [1] He started riding at the age of 5. He was junior downhill world champion in 1999 and won the bronze medal in the elite category at the 2006 world championships. In the UCI Mountain Bike World Cup, Rennie won the downhill category overall in 2003 and came third in 2004 and 2005. In 2008, he was Australian national downhill champion. [2] In 2020, Rennie was inducted into the Mountain Bike Hall of Fame.[ citation needed ]

In 2006, Rennie attempted to break the World Record Distance Jump Record on a bike (towed); he cleared 121.2 feet (36.9 metres). [3] [4]

John Tomac is an American former professional cyclist who competed from 1985 to 2005. He was a versatile rider who competed in multiple disciplines including; BMX racing, cross-country, road racing, trials riding and downhill racing. Tomac became a mountain bike racing icon in the late 1980s as the sport began to develop beyond its formative years. At the time of his retirement in 2005, he had won more mountain bike races than anyone in the sport. Michelle Dumaresq is a Canadian professional downhill mountain bike competitor and trans woman. She competes with other professional female downhill mountain bike racers. She entered the sport in 2001, six years after completing gender reassignment surgery, when she was discovered riding on Vancouver's North Shore by several top women mountain bikers. Dumaresq is open about gender identity.

Greg Minnaar is a South African World Champion mountain bike racer competing in downhill cycling. He has won four world championships, the second most amongst still active racers, and third all time behind Nicolas Vouilloz's seven titles. He currently competes in the UCI Downhill MTB World Cup. Minnaar has the most men's world cup wins, with 23 career victories. He rode with the Santa Cruz Syndicate team until the end of the 2023 season.

Turner Bikes was founded in 1994 by David Turner, a former professional mountain bike rider who had ridden for the Marin and Mongoose teams. He was two time consecutive UCI World Downhill Champion during years 2006–2007 for Iron Horse racing team. He won the 2010 world championships in Mont Saint Anne, riding for the Monster Energy Specialized team on a Specialized Demo 8 II. He also won the 2007 and 2009 UCI Elite Men's Downhill World Cup (Overall). In December 2012 it was announced that Hill had signed for the Chain Reaction Cycles/Nukeproof team. As of 2016, Hill has switched to racing enduro and won the 2017 Enduro World Series overall title. In the same year he raced the Downhill World Championships in Cairns, Australia on his enduro bike where he finished sixth.

As a junior, he was twice world champion, once Oceanian champion, and once Australian national champion in the downhill. In the elite category he has twice been third overall in the world cup and is a eight-time Australian champion.
