The National Academy of the Security Service of Ukraine is one of the leading educational institutions in the military education system of the Security Service of Ukraine. The Academy trains future officers of the Ukrainian Armed Forces in facilities that have been used since 1899 by different governments for training infantry cadets and officers. [1]
In 1954, School No. 204 of the KGB of the USSR began training personnel in Kiev. [2] In 1969, it was transformed into the KGB Courses, and since 1975 , it has been the Higher KGB Courses. On January 27, 1992, the Institute for Personnel Training of the Security Service of Ukraine was established on November 17, 1995 - the Academy of the Security Service of Ukraine, and on August 1999 - the National Academy of the Security Service of Ukraine..
The NASBU is the only institution of its kind in Ukraine and provides candidates with all the education they need to become an officer in the SBU. The curriculum covers a multitude of topics taught by four internal institutes:
Candidates learn how to counter current and future threats to the country. The NASBU offers language training in 11 languages. There are courses on national security, cyber security, legal studies, counter intelligence and many more. By the time they graduate, candidates are expected to master over 40 disciplines. However, the curriculum is constantly changing in response to the security environment in Ukraine. As new threats emerge, the Academy adapts to prepare candidates to fight them.
