The National Medals of Appreciation and Memorial is an honor bestowed by the President of Iran to individuals who have made important contributions to the advancement of knowledge in various fields of science or have lost their lives defending the country. [1] [2] The presidential Committee on the National Medals is responsible for selecting award recipients and is administered by the Presidential Office.

History

The National Medals of Appreciation and Memorial were established on November 21, 2010, by an act of the Cabinet of Iran. [3] The National Medal of Appreciation is to honor scientists who have shown significant contributions to the development of the country. The National Medal of Memorial is to honor those who lost their lives defending the country. The National Medals of Appreciation and Memorial are classified as Golden and Silver Medals. [4] [5]

The awards ceremony is organized by the Office of President of Iran. It is presided by the sitting President of Iran.

Order of Independence (Iran)

The Excellent Order of Independence is an Iranian state order, established by "Council of Iran Ministers" in November 21, 1990. According to "Article 3" of the "Regulations on the Awarding of Government Orders" of Iran, the "Order of Independence" is awarded by President of Iran to recognize "taking important offices and playing a key role in achieving high goals of the Islamic Republic of Iran with all–lateral effort in enlightening positions, distinguished innovations to reach self–sufficiency and independence in different aspects, saving the government from potential threats, helping global proliferation of Islamic revolution principles and other valuable services in critical and decisive periods of time".

Order of Merit and Management Iranian award of honor

Order of Merit and Management is an Iranian state expertise order established by "Council of Iran Ministers" in November 21, 1990. The order has three classes, and awarded by President of Iran. According to Article 9 of the Regulations on the Awarding of Government Orders of Iran, the Order of Merit and Management is awarded to people who achieve "an exceptional success in management, distinguished activities, aiding the oppressed and deprived people and/or beneficiary use of utilities and/or offering exquisite ways".

Order of Service Iranian award of honor

Order of Service is an Iranian state general order. For the first time, it was established and awarded during the Pahlavi dynasty and during the reign of Reza Shah. After Iranian Revolution it was re-established by "Council of Iran Ministers" in November 21, 1990. The order has three classes. According to Article 12 of the Regulations on the Awarding of Government Orders of Iran, the Order of Service awarded by President of Iran to recognize "achieving distinguished success" in one of the following:

Order of Courage or Bravery is an Iranian state general order established by "Council of Iran Ministers" in November 21, 1990. The order has three classes. According to Article 14 of the Regulations on the Awarding of Government Orders of Iran, the Order of Courage awarded by President of Iran to recognize "courage, a high characteristic of human in achieving distinguished success" in one of the following:

  1. Volunteer to accomplish a difficult task which is critical for the country

Order of Culture and Art Iranian award of honor

Order of Culture and Art is an Iranian state general order established by "Council of Iran Ministers" on November 21, 1990 and modified on June 27, 2007. The order has three classes and awarded by President of Iran. According to Article 17 of the Regulations on the Awarding of Government Orders of Iran, the Order of Culture and Art is awarded to those who "facilitate theirs thinking, passions and emotions to express deep Islamic and humanitarian concepts and to spread culture" in one of the following ways:

  1. Disseminating rich Islamic culture and eliminating society from foreign decadent culture
  2. Expanding the theoretical and disciplinary foundations of religious education

Order of Islamic Revolution

The Order of Islamic Revolution is the highest order of the honorary orders in the Islamic Republic of Iran, established by "Council of Iran Ministers" in November 21, 1990. According to "Article 2" of the "Regulations on the Awarding of Government Orders" of Iran, the "Order of Islamic Revolution" is one number for each presidential term which is being given to the President of Iran at the ceremony of the presidential inauguration.

Order of Persian Politeness Iranian award of honor

Order of Persian Politeness or Order of Adab Parsi is one of the badges of honor in Iran, established by Council of Iran Ministers in November 21, 1990. According to Article 19 of the Regulations on the Awarding of Government Orders of Iran, the Order of Persian Politeness is awarded to persons who have significant attributes or efforts in one of the following fields:

Order of Mehr is one of the badges of honor in Iran, established by "Council of Iran Ministers" in September 13, 1994. According to "Article 18" of the "Regulations on the Awarding of Government Orders" of Iran, in addition to the women can having other badges, the "Order of Mehr" due to honor the status and the position of women in the Islamic Republic of Iran, is awarded to women who are source of valuable works in one of the following ways:

Order of Freedom (Iran) Iranian award of honor

The Order of Freedom is one of the badges of honor in Iran, established by "Council of Iran Ministers" in November 21, 1990. The order is awarded by President of Iran. According to the Article 4 of the Regulations on the Awarding of Government Orders of Iran, the Order of Freedom is awarded to persons who hold one of the first order of General or Expertise awards and continue to be qualified to serve the sacred aims of the Islamic system.

Iran Pen Society the Iranian association of writers

The Iran Pen Society is an Iranian association of writers, formed in 1998 by some activists in the field of writing, but officially began operating after obtaining a legal license from Ministry of Culture and Islamic Guidance on 27 May 1999. The Iran Pen Society is the only official legal association of litterateurs whose members include poets, writers, critics, translators, researchers and thinkers in the humanities. The association is not affiliated with any political, religious or governmental party, group, organization, domestic or foreign. The Iran Pen Society has about 200 members.
