Nauru is a small village in the Nanyumbu District of Mtwara Region, Tanzania. [1]
Nauru lies on a path and on two Ruvuma River tributaries. There are almost no paved ways. The village is situated 15 km from the border with Mozambique, which is formed by the Ruvuma.[ citation needed ]
Niassa is a province of Mozambique. It has an area of 129,056 km2 and a population of 1,810,794 (2017). It is the most sparsely populated province in the country. Lichinga is the capital of the province. There are a minimum estimated 450,000 Yao people living in Mozambique. They largely occupy the eastern and northern part of the Niassa province and form about 40% of the population of Lichinga, the capital of this province.

The boundary with Mozambique to the south is formed by the Ruvuma River. To the west, Mtwara is bordered by Ruvuma Region, to the north by Lindi Region, and to the east is the Indian Ocean.
The Evangelical Lutheran Church in Tanzania is the federation of Lutheran churches in Tanzania and one of the largest Lutheran denominations in the world, with more than 6 million members, or 13% of the Tanzanian population. It is the second largest Lutheran church in the world and the largest Lutheran church in East Africa.
Ruvuma Region(Mkoa wa Ruvuma in Swahili) is one of Tanzania's 31 administrative regions The region covers a land area of 63,669 km2 (24,583 sq mi). The region is comparable in size to the combined land area of the nation state of Latvia. The region is also bordered to the north by the Morogoro Region, to the northeast by the Lindi Region, to the east by the Mtwara Region,the west by Lake Nyasa with Malawi and to the northwest by the Njombe Region. The regional capital is the municipality of Songea.
The Makonde are an ethnic group in southeast Tanzania, northern Mozambique, and Kenya. The Makonde developed their culture on the Mueda Plateau in Mozambique. At present they live throughout Tanzania and Mozambique, and have a small presence in Kenya. The Makonde population in Tanzania was estimated in 2001 to be 1,140,000, and the 1997 census in Mozambique put the Makonde population in that country at 233,358, for an estimated total of 1,373,358. The ethnic group is roughly divided by the Ruvuma River; members of the group in Tanzania are referred to as the Makonde, and those in Mozambique as the Maconde. The two groups have developed separate languages over time but share a common origin and culture.
Songea is the capital of Ruvuma Region in southwestern Tanzania. It is located along the A19 road. The city has a population of 286,285, and is the seat of the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Songea. Between 1905 and 1907, the city was a centre of African resistance during the Maji Maji Rebellion in German East Africa. The city is poised to experience significant economic growth in the near future as the Mtwara Corridor opens up in a few years. It is projected to be the sixth fastest growing city on the African continent between 2020 and 2025, with a 5.74% growth.
Ruvuma River, formerly also known as the Rovuma River, is a river in the African Great Lakes region. During the greater part of its course, it forms the border between Tanzania and Mozambique. The river is 998 kilometres (600 mi) long, with a drainage basin of 155,500 square kilometres (60,000 sq mi) in size. Its mean annual discharge is 475 m3/s (16,800 cu ft/s) at its mouth.
Masasi is one of the six districts of the Mtwara Region of Tanzania. It is bordered to the north by the Lindi Region, to the east by the Newala District, to the south by the Ruvuma River and Mozambique and to the west by Nanyumbu District.

The Ndendeule are an ethnic group in Namtumbo District, Ruvuma Region, Tanzania, who speak the Ndendeule language. In 2000 the Ndendeule population was estimated to number 100,000.
The Mnazi Bay-Ruvuma Estuary Marine Park(MBREMP) was established on 1 July 2000 under Act No. 29 of 1994 of Marine Parks and Reserves of Tanzania.
The Unity Bridge across Ruvuma River at Negomano, Mozambique, between Tanzania and Mozambique, was proposed as early as 1975, shortly after Mozambique's independence. It was the idea of the two countries' former Presidents, Mwalimu Nyerere and Samora Machel. Several design studies and limited construction work were completed in the early 1980s, but the Unity Bridge was not finished due to lack of funds.
Kitai is a village in the Ruvuma Region of southwestern Tanzania. It is located along the A19 road, to the northeast of Kigonsera and Likonde. It is a notable mining location.
Nindi is a minor Bantu language of Tanzania. Classified as Bantu N.10 by Guthrie and said to be close to Ndendeule, it is presumably one of the Rufiji–Ruvuma languages with the rest of the N.10 group.
Lawrence M. Gama was a Tanzanian CCM politician and Member of Parliament for Songea constituency from 1995 to 2005. Prior to that, he was the Head of the National Service from May 1970 - January 1973, Regional Commissioner for the Dodoma, Ruvuma, Tabora, and Morogoro Regions, and Head of the Special Branch.
The Mtwara Development Project is a major infrastructure development project involving southern Tanzania, northern Mozambique, eastern Malawi and Eastern Zambia. The goal of this project is to provide road, rail and waterway access from the surrounding region to the Port of Mtwara. The region and the corridor has been neglected by the respective governments for over 40 years and the recent discovery of oil, gas and various minerals has kick started the development of the project. A road and rail link is to be built from the port of Mtwara to Mbamba Bay on Lake Nyasa to link Malawi to the corridor and further road links into Mozambique will facilitate access to northern Mozambique.

The East African coral coast is a marine ecoregion along the eastern coast of Africa. It extends along the coasts of Kenya, Tanzania, and northern Mozambique, from Lamu in Kenya to Angoche in Mozambique. It adjoins the Northern Monsoon Current Coast ecoregion to the north, and the Bight of Sofala/Swamp Coast ecoregion to the south.
Nanyamba Town, is a district established in 2016 of the Mtwara Region in the southern coastal Tanzania. Nanyamba is in the eastern portion of the Mtwara Region, near the coast.
The Liparamba Game Reserve is a protected area located in Mbinga District, Songea & Nyasa District Districts of Ruvuma Region of Tanzania that covers an area of 571 km2 (220 sq mi). The Liparamba Game Reserve was established by Government Notice Number 289 of the year 2000. Following designation, Mbinga District Council managed it until 2006, when Director of Wildlife at Tanzania Wildlife Management Authority (TAWA) took over its management.
