Mohammad Nazrul Islam SPP, ndu, afwc, psc, G is a retired Major General of Bangladesh Army who served as Adjutant General at Army Headquarter. Prior to join AG, he was Director General of Directorate General of Defence Purchase (DGDP). [1] Prior to Join DGDP, he was the Executive Chairman of Bangladesh Export Processing Zone Authority. [2] He also served as Area Commander of Logistic Area, Dhaka Cantonment. [3]

Career

Nazrul islam has served in Directorate General of Forces Intelligence (DGFI), Armed Forces Division and Military Secretariat (MS) Branch in Army Headquarters. He commanded three Artillery units. He also commanded an artillery brigade at Cumilla Cantonment. He was Acting Director General of Bangladesh Institute of International and Strategic Studies when he was Colonel. [4] Moreover, he has served at the UN mission in Sierra Leone and Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC). On 1st September 2018, he was appointed as President of Army Golf Club. [5] He was General Officer Commanding (GOC) of 66 Infantry Division at Rangpur Cantonment. During his tenure at BEPZA, A development agreement was signed to establish ‘BEPZA Economic Zone’ at Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Shilpa Nagar (BSMSN). [6] As an Adjutant General, he also served as Chairman of Governing Body of Cadet Colleges.

The Bangladesh Army is the land warfare branch and the largest component of the Bangladesh Armed Forces. The primary mission of the Army is to defend the land of Bangladesh from any external attack. Control of personnel and operations is administered by the Army Headquarters, Dhaka Cantonment. The Bangladesh Army is also constitutionally obligated to assist the government, during times of domestic national emergency e.g. the army helps people during any natural calamity. Forces Goal 2030 is a military modernization program which began in 2009 and was revised in 2017. It was designed to enhance the capabilities of three service branches of Bangladesh Armed Forces: the Army, the Navy and the Air Force. The primary focus of the modernization program is the reformation of the military organization, expansion of the forces, the transformation of the indigenous defense sector to support research and manufacturing, and acquisition of modern military weapons. The requirement for modernization was realized in the aftermath of 2008 Bangladesh–Myanmar naval standoff later resulting in Bangladesh's favour. One of the primary objectives of the modernization program is to develop a three-dimensional force capable of conducting multi-platform warfare.

He has been serving as an adviser to the interim government of Bangladesh since August 2024.

The Bangladesh Economic Zones Authority or BEZA is an agency of the government of Bangladesh tasked with developing special economic zones.

S. M. Matiur Rahman OSP (BAR), SUP, afwc, psc, is a retired three-star-rank Bangladesh Army officer, a lieutenant general. He was general officer commanding, Army Training and Doctrine Command, Mymensingh Cantonment. Prior to join ARTDOC, he was GOC of 24 Infantry Division and area commander of Chattogram area. Earlier, he was adjutant general of the Bangladesh Army. He was also the vice chairman of Trust Bank's board of directors. He served as General Officer Commanding (GOC) of 55 Infantry Division & Area Commander of Jessore Area. He also served as the director of Counter-Terrorism Intelligence Bureau (CTIB) of Directorate General of Forces Intelligence. He served as commander of 46th Independent Infantry Brigade. He also served as additional director general (operations) of the Rapid Action Battalion.

Mohammad Maksudur Rahman is a retired major general in the Bangladesh Army. Before retirement he was Director General of Bangladesh Institute of International and Strategic Studies.

Md Tofazzel Hossain Miah is a Bangladeshi retired civil servant who served as principal secretary of the prime minister. He also served as PS-1 to Prime Minister of Bangladesh Sheikh Hasina and senior secretary, Prime Minister's Office, Bangladesh. On 7 August 2024, his appointment has been cancelled.
