The Nebraska Department of Economic Development is the U.S. State of Nebraska agency responsible for economic development in the state. Created by the Nebraska State Legislature in 1967, the department's emphasis is growing and diversifying the state's economic base by fostering new investment and commercial spending throughout the state. [1] The department’s site lists startup assistance, community development, and financing tools for small businesses, with current contacts and program summaries.The department also manages the Nebraska Small Business Assistance Act (NSBAA), which provides grants and professional service support to individuals launching new businesses and existing small businesses across the state.
