Shaun Maclean Pollock OIS is a South African cricket commentator and former cricketer, who was captain in all formats of the game. He is widely regarded as one of the greatest fast bowlers and allrounders of all time. A genuine bowling all-rounder, Pollock along with Allan Donald formed a bowling partnership for many years. From 2000 to 2003 he was the captain of the South African cricket team, and also played for Africa XI, World XI, Dolphins and Warwickshire. He was chosen as the Wisden Cricketer of the Year in 2003.

Despite Pollock's international career being cut short at the age of 26 by the sporting boycott of South Africa, and all but one of his 23 Test matches being against England and Australia, the leading cricket nations of the day, he broke a number of records. His completed career Test match batting average of 60.97 remains fourth best after Sir Donald Bradman's (99.94), Steve Smith's, and Adam Voges's averages.

Daniel Raymond Flynn is a New Zealand former cricketer who played for Northern Districts and has also represented the New Zealand international side. In April 2020, Flynn announced his retirement from cricket.

Banbridge Academy is a grammar school in Banbridge, Northern Ireland, founded in 1786. As of 2014 the Principal is Robin McLoughlin, previously a headmaster of Grosvenor Grammar School. Mr McLoughlin succeeded Mr Raymond Pollock (1995-2014). Former headmaster Mr Pollock was preceded by Charles Winston Breen (1984–1995), a graduate of Trinity College, Dublin. Breen's work was continued by Pollock, who was made an Officer of the Order of the British Empire in the 2009 New Year Honours list "For services to Education in Northern Ireland".

Munster Reds is an Irish inter-provincial cricket team based in Munster. In April 2017, Cricket Ireland approved the participation of the team in the Interprovincial Twenty20 Cup, the highest level of T20 domestic cricket in Ireland. They joined Leinster Lightning, North West Warriors and Northern Knights in the 2017 tournament. They played their first match in the Inter-Provincial Trophy on 26 May 2017, and won their first match, against North West Warriors, on 6 July 2018. Following the successful end to their 2018 season, there was talk of Munster Reds being included in the Interprovincial One-Day Trophy competition, but while this is an objective of Cricket Ireland, it was confirmed this would not happen in 2019. In February 2021, Cricket Ireland confirmed that the team would take part in the 2021 tournament.
Edward John Pollock is an English cricketer. He made his Twenty20 cricket debut for Warwickshire in the 2017 NatWest t20 Blast on 23 July 2017. He made his List A debut for Warwickshire in the 2018 Royal London One-Day Cup on 17 May 2018. In July 2021, in the 2021 Royal London One-Day Cup, Pollock scored his first century in List A cricket. In April 2022, in the opening round of matches in the 2022 County Championship, Pollock scored his maiden century in first-class cricket, with 112 runs against Leicestershire.
The 2019–20 Plunket Shield was the 91st season of the Plunket Shield, the domestic first-class cricket competition in New Zealand. It took place between October 2019 and March 2020. As per the previous edition of the competition, the tournament was scheduled to feature eight rounds of matches. Central Districts were the defending champions.
