Nelonen Media's premium television operation was previously named Nelonen Paketti. In March 2017, all of linear premium channels were renamed Ruutu+ after Ruutu.fi's premium plan, before they were shut down on 1 September 2018. [5]

Finland has excellent communications, and is considered one of the most advanced information societies in the world.

Television was introduced in Finland in 1955. Color television started in 1969 and was introduced gradually, with most programs in color by the late 1970s. All terrestrial analogue stations stopped broadcasting on 1 September 2007 after the introduction of digital television; cable providers were allowed to continue analog broadcasting in their networks until 1 March 2008.

Nelonen Finnish commercial TV channel

Nelonen is a Finnish commercial television channel. It started out as Helsinki's local television channel PTV in 1990 on the HTV cable network, and changed its name first to PTV4. On June 1, 1997, the channel expanded to national coverage and changed its name to Nelonen, the Finnish name of the number four. Nelonen is mostly owned by Sanoma Corporation, which owns the Helsingin Sanomat and Ilta-Sanomat newspapers. Its largest owner was Aatos Erkko. Much of its programming is imported Australian, American, British, and European programs with Finnish captions. Its main market is the 25-44 demographic.

Canal Digital was a Nordic pay TV and internet service provider in Norway, Sweden, Denmark and Finland that was founded in March 1997 as a joint venture between the French pay TV company Canal+ and the Norwegian telecommunications operator Telenor.

<i>Big Brother</i> (Finnish TV series)

Big Brother Suomi is the Finnish version of the reality television franchise Big Brother. The Finnish adaptation of Big Brother is broadcast on Sub in Finland from 2005 to 2014.

Jim (TV channel) Finnish national television channel

Jim is a Finnish national television channel that replaced Nelonen Plus on 26 February 2007. Jim is part of Nelonen Media's media division, which is part of the Sanoma Group's Finnish media business division, Sanoma Media Finland.

Digital terrestrial television in Finland was launched on August 21, 2001. The analogue networks continued its broadcasts alongside the digital ones until September 1, 2007, when they were shut down nationwide.

Ruutu is a Finnish surname. It means 'square', 'diamond', or 'box'.

Ruutu+ Urheilu 2 is a Finnish TV channel that specializes in sports. Urheilukanava was launched on August 27, 2001 and it was especially popular among Finnish football fans since the channel made it possible to watch both high standard domestic and international football on TV for free. Urheilukanava was replaced by Nelonen Sport in February 2010. Nelonen Sport was renamed to Nelonen Pro 2 in January 2011 and it became a pay TV channel.

Ruutu+ Urheilu 1 is a package of Finnish sports-oriented television channels owned and operated by Nelonen.

Selviytyjät Suomi is a Finnish reality show based on Survivor. It premiered on MTV3 on 21 February 2013.

The Voice of Finland is the second season of the Finnish reality singing competition based on The Voice format. The season premiered on Nelonen on January 4, 2013.

The Voice of Finland is the third season of the Finnish reality singing competition based on The Voice format. The season premiered on Nelonen on January 3, 2014.

The Voice of Finland was the fifth season of the Finnish reality singing competition based on The Voice format. The season premiered on Nelonen on January 8, 2016. The live final aired on April 22, 2016.

Radio Suomipop is a Finnish commercial radio station that is aimed at the 25-44 year old market and which broadcasts both traditionally and via an online presence. It has been in operation since 2001.

<i>Big Brother</i> (Finnish season 11) Season of television series

The eleventh season of Big Brother Suomi premiered on 1 September 2019 and was aired on Jim and Nelonen. This is the first season to air on Jim and Nelonen after the first ten seasons aired on Sub from 2005–2014. After a five year hiatus the revival of Big Brother Suomi was announced on 14 January 2019 alongside the revival of the Polish edition of Big Brother.

Mysteerilaulajat is a Finnish television mystery music game show based on South Korean programme I Can See Your Voice. It premiered on Nelonen on 16 October 2021.

The fourteenth season of Big Brother Suomi premiered on 5 September 2021 and lasted for 12 weeks. It was aired on Nelonen with a 24/7 live feed on Ruutu.fi streaming service.

<i>Lakeside Murders</i> Upcoming Finnish television series

Lakeside Murders is a Finnish crime drama and Nordic noir television series created by Riku Suokas and starring Eero Aho. The series is based on the Koskinen book series by Seppo Jokinen and follows Inspector Sakari Koskinen and his team in the Violent Crimes Unit as they try to solve murders in the Finnish lakeside city of Tampere.
