After his father dies, Corey Thorton inherits his father's estate in Louisiana, only to find that his father plans to sacrifice his soul to live again.
The film was originally to be produced in Romania, but Band moved it to New Orleans, Louisiana. [1]
Writing in The Zombie Movie Encyclopedia, academic Peter Dendle called it "an unremarkble Dixieland shocker from dubious Full Moon studios". [2] Lawrence Cohn of Variety called it an "entertaining horror pic". [1]

The zombie goes on to kill the teens, whose deaths are investigated by the police. The film was shot in the suburbs of Montreal, Canada. It was originally written to star mostly black actors but, at the request of investors, the characters' names were changed to more typically white names. While Bravman was credited as director, Fasano directed the majority of the film. Problems occurred between Fasano and the production crew, who believed him to be assistant director and ignored his directions.

He is notable for directing several full-length theatrical horror films including Tourist Trap (1979), The Seduction (1982), Crawlspace (1986), Catacombs (1988), Puppet Master (1989), and Netherworld (1992). In May, 2012, Schmoeller was awarded a Lifetime Achievement Award by the Fantaspoa Film Festival in Porto Alegre, Brazil where his new feature film, 2 Little Monsters (2012) was screened along with his other notable films.
