State Road 581, also known as Bruce B. Downs Boulevard, is a 3.5-mile-long (5.6 km) north–south road in Pasco County,[ [Hillsborough County,Florida |Hillsborough County]] extending from State Road 56, north to SR 54 in Wesley Chapel. SR 581, along with County Road 581 (CR 581), which extends 12.6 miles (20.3 km) to the south of SR 581's southern terminus, forms the major thoroughfare through New Tampa, a part of the city of Tampa annexed during the 1980s, to Wesley Chapel. The portion of the road north of State Road 582 was renamed in 1984 from 30th Street by Hillsborough's Board of County Commissioners in honor of Bruce Barkley Downs, a deputy county administrator for public works.

New Tampa is a region in Florida that encompasses both a 24-square-mile (62 km2) area within the corporate limits of the City of Tampa, as well as a larger land area that is in unincorporated Hillsborough, but retains a Tampa mailing address. The Canajoharie Creek is a river that flows into the Mohawk River in the Village of Canajoharie in the U.S. State of New York. The name "Canajoharie" is a Mohawk language term meaning "the pot that washes itself", referring to the "Canajoharie Boiling Pot", a 20-foot (6.1 m) wide and 10-foot (3.0 m) deep pothole in the Canajoharie Creek, just south of the village of Canajoharie. Bowmans Creek is one main tributary that enters the creek east of the Hamlet of Sprout Brook. The other main tributary is Brimstone Creek which enters the creek north-northwest of the Village of Ames.

The New River Branch Library is a public library that primarily serves the Wesley Chapel, Florida area, and is one of eight libraries that are part of Pasco County's overall library system, the Pasco County Library Cooperative. It is currently located at 34043 State Road 54, Zephyrhills, Florida. The library opened on October 31, 1991.
