New Think Festival, also called Fikristan meaning "The Land of Ideas" in Arabic, is a yearly weekend event held in both the King Hussein Business Park and The Children's Museum Jordan in Amman, Jordan. It is part of a non-profit initiative called NewThink, which aims to inspire the youth of Jordan to view the world in different innovative perspectives. The festival is one of the many events administered by the initiative, which are held throughout the year to get the youth involved.

King Hussein Business Park is a compound located in west Amman, Jordan. It is named after the late King Hussein and contains office buildings, auditorium, sports complex, and support areas that are equipped with an extensive ICT infrastructure. Home to over 40 major companies branches located in Amman such as; Hewlet-Packard, Rubicon LG and many others. And home to the yearly held New Think Festival and Zain Innovative Campus (ZINC).

Amman is the capital and most populous city of Jordan, and the country's economic, political and cultural centre. Situated in north-central Jordan, Amman is the administrative centre of the Amman Governorate. The city has a population of 4,007,526 and a land area of 1,680 square kilometres. Today, Amman is considered to be among the most modernized Arab cities. It is a major tourist destination in the region, particularly among Arab and European tourists.

In 2015, the festival hosted 40 different organizations at the King Hussein Business Park and the Children's Museum Jordan in Amman that aimed to inspire their audience to be visionary and think differently about the world through workshops and presentations. The organizations that participated included environmental, business, medical and educational groups. [2] [3] [4]

History

NewThink initiative was first held in 2009. Later it developed into the festival which started in 2012 with an average yearly attendance of 14,000 teens and university students from all over Jordan. Activities included programs about leadership, entrepreneurship, culture, arts, health and technology. Participants had the opportunity to choose five hours each day from over 60 sessions, which were led by 250 speakers from across the kingdom. [5]

Impact Entrepreneurship Group is a Canadian non-profit youth-run organization. Founded in 2004, it aims to foster and develop entrepreneurship among university and high school students. It has offices in Vancouver, Calgary and Waterloo, Ontario. To fulfill its aim, Impact has a number of different programs and initiatives to promote youth entrepreneurship and leadership, both at the local and national level. The organization currently consists of over 100 student volunteers across Canada.

Techniche

Techniche is the annual Techno-Management festival of Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), Guwahati. The festival was started in 1999 by a group of students within the IIT Guwahati campus. Spread over 3 days and 4 nights, Techniche is generally conducted towards the end of August each year.

INJAZ is a youth-centered non-profit organization established in the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan in 1999.

Silatech is an organization based in Qatar, spearheaded by the wife of the former Emir of Qatar Sheikha Mozah bint Nasser. The current CEO of this organization is Ms Sabah AlHaidoos. Silatech means "your connection" in Arabic. The initiative seeks to create jobs and economic opportunities for young people in the Arab world, targeting 18- to 30-year-olds. by 2016, Silatech claims to have helped 200,000 young Arabs to obtain jobs. The initiative’s model involves building partnerships with governments, private companies and NGOs.

Kerala Startup Mission

Kerala Startup Mission is the nodal agency of Government of Kerala for entrepreneurship development and incubation activities in Kerala, India. The primary objectives of KSUM was to undertake the planning, establishment, and management of Technology Business Incubators/ Accelerators in Kerala so as to promote technology based entrepreneurship activities and create the infrastructure and environment required for promoting high technology based business activities. KSUM objectives also include being an apex body for all other incubators in the state to coordinate their functions to strengthen the entrepreneurship development activities of the state government, promoting knowledge driven and technology based startup ventures by students, faculties, local entrepreneurs etc, planning and implementing industry institute linkages and networking, setting up of R & D facilities and related facilities, encouraging formation of IEDC and TBI’s in academic institutions and capacity building programmes for human resources.

HRH Princess Dana Firas is a global advocate for heritage protection and preservation as a foundation for development, responsible tourism, identity and political participation, and peace building. She is the wife of HRH Prince Firas bin Raad, the son of Prince Ra'ad bin Zeid and Princess Majda Ra'ad.
