The New York Underground Comedy Festival is a comedy festival.
Founded in 2003 with 3 shows in 3 nights at the Laurie Beechman Theatre, the festival has grown to 10 days and 300+ shows making it the largest comedy festival in New York.[ citation needed ]
The NYUCF has had many notable acts perform in previous festivals, including Freddie Roman, Jim Gaffigan, Judy Gold, Charlie Moreno, Rick Overton, Dom Irrera, Colin Quinn, Bill Burr, Nick DiPaolo, Rob Bartlett, Jim Norton, Rich Vos and Eddie Brill.[ citation needed ]
The festival has raised over $100,000 for charities.[ citation needed ]
In the spirit of the new age of the internet, Acappella Productions, the New York Underground Comedy Festival promoter of South Africa, launched a revolutionary USA-wide video audition in August 2007, encouraging comics to submit one video with their best stand-up material to be judged by a local panel of experts.

Superchunk is an American indie rock band from Chapel Hill, North Carolina, United States, consisting of singer-guitarist Mac McCaughan, guitarist Jim Wilbur, bassist Laura Ballance, and drummer Jon Wurster. Amateur Transplants is fronted by London-based, British comedian, Adam Kay who specialises in musical parodies. For several years, he was accompanied by Dr Suman Biswas. Amateur Transplants came to prominence in 2005 with a song about the London Underground, parodying the Jam song "Going Underground". They regularly perform live, and have been recommended by Time Out, including several successful years at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe.
Flight of the Conchords are a New Zealand comedy duo composed of musicians Bret McKenzie and Jemaine Clement. The duo's comedy and music became the basis of a BBC radio series and then an American television series that aired for two seasons on HBO. They previously referred to themselves as "New Zealand's fourth most popular guitar-based digi-bongo acapella-rap-funk-comedy folk duo", but as of 2014 refer to themselves as "the almost award-winning fourth-most-popular folk duo in New Zealand".
