Newbridge Drive is a relatively new suburb in Dumfries. It is situated on the Maxwelltown side of the River Nith and is approx 1.8 miles north-west from Dumfries town centre.
The area is served by the number 12 Dumfries town centre Bus which runs half-hourly. [1]
Newbridge Drive is one of the few areas in Dumfries that does not have a Primary School. The scheme is in the catchment area of Lincluden Primary School however, Lochside Primary School is also close to the area. The nearest Catholic primary schools are St.Ninians and St.Teresa's both of which are located in the Lochside area of the town.

Maxwelltown High School was a state funded, six-year comprehensive secondary school in the Lochside area of Dumfries, Scotland. Founded in 1971, Maxwelltown High School was the most recently founded secondary school in Dumfries and Galloway, before merging with other schools into North West Community Campus. It had 311 pupils as of August 2012. The roll of Maxwelltown High School had been steadily declining since 2002.
Westfield is an area of the town of Cumbernauld in Scotland. Westfield is a popular residential area originally built by Cumbernauld Development Corporation in the late 1970s and early 1980s. It comprises a residential area and a large industrial estate. Historically there was a farm at Westfield as shown on Roy's map of the Lowlands and the 1st 25 inch Ordnance Survey Map of Scotland. It is located near Condorrat and Broadwood Stadium, home of Clyde FC. Historically, there were two local primary schools, St Francis of Assisi Primary School and Westfield Primary School. St. Francis of Assisi Primary School closed in 2009. The site has been re-developed by North Lanarkshire Council with new, high quality social housing available to rent. The new street is named Netherinch Way. Westfield also has other modern, private developments for example a new Bellway Housing development sits near Broadwood stadium along with a neighboring housing development. Westfield has a selection of frequent bus services to Airdrie, Cumbernauld Town Centre, Glasgow, Kilsyth and Kirkintilloch with buses operated by David Allan Coaches, First Group & McGills. In 2017 plans for a new retail park near Broadwood Studium were approved.
Summerhill in Dumfries is a post war residential suburb on the west side of the town. It is located on the Maxwelltown side of the River Nith that runs through Dumfries. Summerhill is bounded by Terregles Road to the north, the streets that branch off Ellisland Drive to the east, the Dumfries and Galloway Golf Club to the south and west and also to the west by the disused Maxwelltown train station.
Boreland is a village in Dumfries and Galloway, Scotland, which is located in Dryfesdale about 7 miles north of Lockerbie on the B723 road to Eskdalemuir. The village is bordered by the Dryfe Water to the north, whilst the Boreland Burn flows to the south of the village which is a tributary of the Dryfe Water. Next to the Dryfe are the remains of Gillesbie Tower which was home to one of the Border Reiver clans, the Grahams. This tower, dating back to the 15th century, was a stronghold of the Grahams of Gillesbie. The area surrounding Boreland has many other significant historical remains, with some dating back to the Iron Age.
