Newport Cricket Club (NCC) is a cricket club based in the city of Newport, South Wales. The club runs 1st, 2nd, 3rd and 4th XIs in the SWALEC Premier Cricket League and Glamorgan and Monmouthshire League. The club fields eight youth teams in the Under 11, Under 13, Under 15 and Under 17 age groups as well as the Newport Girls team who compete in the Monmouthshire Building Society Youth Cricket League.
Newport Cricket Club was based at Rodney Parade in Newport city centre until the land was sold and the new Maindee primary school was built on the site. The club relocated to its current location at Newport International Sports Village.

According to their website, they were founded in 1883 by a coal miner named Doug Wallace who was a local resident who moved from Scotland in 1882, Wallace was known for his commitment for the club until he died in 1899 and will be remembered as a special part of the club even to do this day. Every year the club celebrates Wallace's life by competing in a cross country race with 100s of the locals competing in the last 10 years Mr Phelps has won the race 10 times and is now the all-time leading winner in the competition, in one year he run the race twice before anyone had cross the line for the first time.

The ground is on Rodney Road, a short walk from the city's central bus and railway stations via Newport Bridge or Newport City footbridge. There is no spectator car park at the ground but a number of multi-storey car parks are nearby.

He played representative rugby union for the British Lions and for Wales, where he set point scoring records, and Monmouthshire, and at club level for Abertillery RFC, Newport RFC and London Welsh RFC, as a centre, i.e. number 12 or 13. He also played representative rugby league for Wales, and at club level for Barrow.

Blackwood Town Cricket Club is a local Welsh cricket club that plays in the Glamorgan and Monmouthsire Cricket League Division 1. The club formed in the early 1950s and originally played on the Showfield in Blackwood, moving to its current location, Highfields, at the top of Gordon Road in 1955. The ground cost £200 to buy and the club members did the vast majority of work on it themselves, ferrying soil from Markham Common and having the local authority dump rubbish on the ground in order to make the ground flat as there was a slope from the site of the current pavilion to the far side that needed to be filled in. The first match at the new ground was against Glamorgan Colts.
