The Newspaper Society of Hong Kong (Chinese:香港報業公會 ), set up on May 10, 1954, is the largest newspaper industrial society in Hong Kong, found by Hong Kong's four largest newspapers at the time - The Kung Sheung Daily News (工商日報, closed), Wah Kiu Yat Po (華僑日報, closed), Sing Tao Daily (星島日報) and South China Morning Post (南華日報). Existing members include 14 major newspapers, although Oriental Daily has chosen not to participate. The Society is the organiser for the widest-acclaimed news awards in Hong Kong.

The Daily Press was an English-language newspaper in Hong Kong, published from 1857 for about 80 years. Founded and edited by George M Ryder, it was the first daily newspaper in Hong Kong. In 1858, Yorick Jones Murrow, a tenacious Welshman born in 1817, took over the newspaper and he inaugurated the Chinese-language paper Hongkong Chinese and Foreign News (香港中外新報), published three times per week. Murrow led the paper on fearless attacks on the Colonial administration, leading ultimately to his imprisonment on a charge of libel. He relinquished his role as editor in 1867 but remained its proprietor till his death in 1884.

<i>Shin Min Daily News</i>

Shin Min Daily News is a Singapore Chinese-language afternoon newspaper currently published by Singapore Press Holdings (SPH). First started on March 18, 1967, by Singapore businessman Leung Yun Chee (梁潤之) and the renowned Hong Kong writer Louis Cha as an offshoot of Hong Kong's Ming Pao, it featured exclusive serializations of some of Cha's wuxia novels in its early days. In the early 1980s, Cha sold his shares in the paper after the Singapore government ruled that foreigners could only hold up to 3% of shares in locally based papers.
