Nia Medi is a Welsh actress and author.
Originally from Llanfair, near Harlech in North Wales, she now lives in the Dolgellau area.
She attended The Normal College in Bangor.
As an actress her most famous screen work is the film Wild Justice (1994), directed by Paul Turner, also screened under the titles Covert Assassin and Dial (Welsh for "Revenge"). The film also stars Nicholas McGaughey, David Griffith, Dafydd Emyr, Patricia Millardet, Christine Pritchard and Trevor Selway. It was previously a TV mini-series, but Nia was not involved with this.
Medi has written scripts for radio and stage shows, and has also worked in house design, such as on the Real Rooms TV programme.
Her debut novel, written in Welsh, is titled Omlet ("Omelette") 2005). The novel is about Angharad Austin, a single teacher in her thirties, who faces a range of problems associated with men, alcohol and friends. The novel uses a modern style of Welsh, very similar to that of Bethan Gwanas.[ citation needed ] The novel has been made into a film, with the main character played by actress Delyth Eirwyn. The film was shot on location in Greece and North Wales, [1] and was to air on Welsh TV channel S4C in the fall of 2008. [2]
She is currently working on a second novel, with the working title Mwy o wy ("More Egg"). [3]
Dame Jane Elizabeth Ailwên Phillips, known professionally as Siân Phillips, is a Welsh actress. Her early career consisted primarily of stage roles, including the title roles in Ibsen's Hedda Gabler and George Bernard Shaw's Saint Joan. In the 1960s, she started taking on more roles in television and film. She is particularly known for her performance as Livia in the 1976 BBC television series I, Claudius, for which she was awarded a BAFTA and a Royal Television Society award. She was nominated for a Tony Award and Olivier Award for Best Actress in a Musical for her performance as Marlene Dietrich in Marlene.
Caerdydd is a Welsh language television programme set in Cardiff made by Fiction Factory for Welsh public service television station S4C. The series is "a stylish, new drama about modern, urban Welsh-speakers living in a bilingual city" following "a group of modern urban twenty- and thirtysomethings" with "their complex friendships and relationships [set] against a backdrop of relentless socialising". First commissioned by S4C's drama editor Angharad Jones in 2005, as part of a drive by S4C to reach a younger audience, the third series of Caerdydd started its run on S4C on 30 March 2008. A fourth series was commissioned and went into production in Spring 2008. It started broadcasting on 14 June 2009.

The bilingual version of the series, under the English name Hidden, was broadcast on BBC One Wales and BBC Four. The Welsh-language versions of the first two series aired on S4C in 2018 and 2019, respectively, with the third and final series beginning on 10 October 2021. The English-language version of the third and final series aired in April 2022.
