Nick Danger and the Danger City Rebels were a Canadian rock band led by Nick Danger [1] in the 2000s.
The original band, was billed as "The Social Icons" in 2000, before developing the Nick Danger persona [2] and becoming The Danger City Rebels (DCR). It featured Nick Danger and drummer CHUNKK Neilson (recruited from Ottawa band Tremolo). The sound of the band owed a great deal to the influence of The Velvet Underground, Hank Williams and The Ventures, and balanced somewhere between "Cowpunk" and "surf rock".
The second band signed to Ottawa's The Beautiful Music record label. Their series of recordings entitled "Thrillogy of Danger" was a three EP set of CDs. The first was titled The Return of Nick Danger and the third was titled Escape from Danger City. According to Allan Wigney in the April 5, 2006 interview, [3] the second album was never released due to legal issues.

The band's popularity subsequently spread into the US, beginning with versions of "Brian Wilson" and "The Old Apartment" off their 1996 live album Rock Spectacle, followed by their fourth studio album Stunt, their breakout success in 1998. The album featured their highest-charting hit, "One Week", as well as "It's All Been Done" and "Call and Answer". Their fifth album, Maroon, featuring the lead single "Pinch Me", also charted highly. In the 2010s the band became well-known for creating the theme song for the sitcom The Big Bang Theory.
Emo is a rock music genre characterized by an emphasis on emotional expression, sometimes through confessional lyrics. It emerged as a style of post-hardcore from the mid-1980s hardcore punk movement in Washington, D.C., where it was known as emotional hardcore or emocore and pioneered by bands such as Rites of Spring and Embrace. In the early–mid 1990s, emo was adopted and reinvented by alternative rock, indie rock and/or punk rock bands such as Sunny Day Real Estate, Jawbreaker, Weezer, Cap'n Jazz, and Jimmy Eat World, with Weezer breaking into the mainstream during this time. By the mid-1990s, bands such as Braid, the Promise Ring, and the Get Up Kids emerged from the burgeoning Midwest emo scene, and several independent record labels began to specialize in the genre. Meanwhile, screamo, a more aggressive style of emo using screamed vocals, also emerged, pioneered by the San Diego bands Heroin and Antioch Arrow. Screamo achieved mainstream success in the 2000s with bands like Hawthorne Heights, Silverstein, Story of the Year, Thursday, the Used, and Underoath.
No Doubt is an American rock band from Anaheim, California, formed in 1986. For most of their career, the band consisted of vocalist Gwen Stefani, guitarist Tom Dumont, bassist Tony Kanal, and drummer Adrian Young. The Social Icons are a Canadian indie rock band formed in 2009 in Ottawa. Formed by Nickolai Dangeroso who is the principal songwriter as well as vocalist and guitarist. The other members of the band are Terry O'Reilly on bass guitar and CHUNKK on percussion. They are one of the original artists on Ottawa based indie label, The Beautiful Music along with Skytone (band).
