Nick R. Martin is an American freelance journalist.

Martin was a staff reporter for Phoenix, Arizona's East Valley Tribune and covered the trial of Dale Hausner, known as the Serial Shooter, until being laid off from the Tribune. He then founded and ran Heat City to continue covering the trial and to provide independent reporting for the region, receiving several Arizona Press Club first-place awards in 2009. Martin was then hired for Talking Points Memo in 2011. [8] [9]

Martin has also written for Arizona Guardian , BuzzFeed, The Daily Beast, Southern Poverty Law Center. [9]

In 2019, Martin launched The Informant on Substack, to continue his muckraking of racists and hate groups.[ citation needed ]

<i>Tulsa World</i> Daily newspaper in Tulsa, Oklahoma

The Tulsa World is the daily newspaper for the city of Tulsa, Oklahoma, and primary newspaper for the northeastern and eastern portions of Oklahoma. Tulsa World Media Company is part of Lee Enterprises. The new owners announced in January 2020 that a corporate purchase was made of BH Media Group, a Berkshire Hathaway company controlled by Warren Buffett. The printed edition is the second-most circulated newspaper in the state, after The Oklahoman. It was founded in 1905 and locally owned by the Lorton family for almost 100 years until February 2013, when it was sold to BH Media Group. In the early 1900s, the World fought an editorial battle in favor of building a reservoir on Spavinaw Creek, in addition to opposing the Ku Klux Klan in the 1920s. The paper was jointly operated with the Tulsa Tribune from 1941 to 1992.

Joseph Michael Arpaio is an American former law enforcement officer and politician. He served as the 36th Sheriff of Maricopa County, Arizona for 24 years, from 1993 to 2017, losing reelection to Democrat Paul Penzone in 2016.

Nick Symmonds

Nicholas Boone Symmonds is a retired American middle-distance track athlete, from Boise, Idaho, specializing in the 800 meters and 1500 meters distances. Symmonds signed with Brooks Running in January 2014 after a 7-year sponsorship with Nike. In college at Willamette University he won seven NCAA Division III titles in outdoor track. Symmonds is a 6-time US National 800 meters champion. He has competed in the 800m at two Olympic Games, reaching the semi-finals in Beijing 2008, while in London 2012, he finished fifth in the final, running a personal best of 1:42.95 behind David Rudisha's world record. He won a silver medal in the 800 meters at the 2013 World Championships, having previously finished sixth in the 2009 final and fifth in 2011.

In 2011 James Arthur Ray was convicted of three counts of negligent homicide, after his February 3, 2010 arrest for causing the deaths of three participants in one of his New Age retreats. He served two years in Arizona state prison and was released under supervision on July 12, 2013.

2010 Arizona gubernatorial election

The Arizona gubernatorial election of 2010 was held on November 2, 2010 to elect the Governor of Arizona. Incumbent Republican Jan Brewer ran for a full term. Party primaries were held on August 24, 2010. Jan Brewer won a full term, defeating Attorney General Goddard 54% to 42%.

2010 Arizona Proposition 203

Proposition 203, or the Arizona Medical Marijuana Act, was an Arizona ballot measure to legalize the use of medical marijuana without the normal Food and Drug Administration testing for safety and efficacy. Proposition 203 passed by a narrow margin, with 50.13% of the vote.

The 2020 United States House of Representatives elections in Arizona will be held on November 3, 2020, to elect the nine U.S. Representatives from the state of Arizona, one from each of the state's nine congressional districts. The elections will coincide with the 2020 U.S. presidential election, as well as other elections to the House of Representatives, elections to the United States Senate and various state and local elections.
