Nicolae Costescu (1888-1963) was a Romanian brigadier-general during World War II. He served as Director Higher Infantry Department in 1941, and later that year became General Officer Commanding 18th Division. He was Director Higher Infantry Department in 1942, and retired that year. [1]

The 1st Army was a field army-level command in the ground forces of Austria-Hungary during World War I. The army fought in Galicia and Russian Poland in 1914–15 before being briefly dissolved in the summer of 1916. Shortly afterwards, it was reformed and sent to fight in the Romanian Campaign for the next two years. The 1st Army was demobilized in April 1918 due to its heavy losses, following Romania's surrender.

Second Jassy–Kishinev Offensive Military offensive

The Second Jassy–Kishinev Operation, named after the two major cities, Iași ("Jassy") and Chișinău ("Kishinev"), in the staging area, was a Soviet offensive against Axis forces, which took place in Eastern Romania from 20 to 29 August 1944 during World War II. The 2nd and 3rd Ukrainian Fronts of the Red Army engaged Army Group South Ukraine, which consisted of combined German and Romanian formations, in an operation to reclaim the Moldavian SSR and destroy the Axis forces in the region, opening the way into Romania and the Balkans.

Arthur Arz von Straußenburg

Generaloberst Arthur Freiherr Arz von Straußenburg was an Austro-Hungarian colonel general and last Chief of the General Staff of the Austro-Hungarian Army. At the outbreak of the First World War, he commanded the 15th Infantry Division. Soon, he was promoted to the head of the 6th Corps and the First Army. He participated on the Gorlice–Tarnów Offensive in 1915 and the countryside of Romania in 1916. In March 1917, he became Chief of the General Staff until his resignation on 3 November 1918.

He began his military career as Head Intendance Service in the Under-Secretary of the Air Force in 1941, and in 1944 was Head Intendance Service of the Army. In 1945 he was Director Higher Audition Department, in 1946 he was Inspector-General in General-Inspectorate of Intendance, in 1947 he was Director General Department for Administration of the Army, in 1948 he was Commandant Higher Administration School, and in 1949 he was Commandant Army Logistical Academy. Constantiniu retired in 1952.
