Nigerian Teens Choice Awards (also known as The NTC Awards or NTCA honours), first introduced, and launched in August 2012 by Nelson Ese Williams, for teen excellence and awards personalities who influence the teen world in Nigeria. The NTC Awards, consisting of music, entertainment, media, fashion, sport, art, social achievement, individual personalities in film, and social media in Nigeria.

History

The event is composed of 50 categories, and the 1st edition of the Nigerian Teens Choice Awards was held in 2012, and winners of the ceremony include Burna Boy, Korede Bello, Sina Rambo, Denrele Edun, Dammy Krane, and Wande Coal among others. At the 4th edition of the award, NTCA honours 52 Teens, including Tay Iwar, Efe Orake, and Speroach Beatz among others. [3] At the 6th edition of the ceremony, Nelson Ese Williams introduced 6 new categories. [4] On 24 July 2016, while speaking at a briefing in Abuja Nelson, said the 2016 edition is likely to have about 60 categories of nominations. [4]

The Teen Choice Awards is an annual awards show that airs on the Fox television network. The awards honor the year's biggest achievements in music, film, sports, television, fashion, social media, and more, voted by viewers living in the United States, aged 13 and over, through various social media sites; primarily Instagram, Twitter, Snapchat, and YouTube.

It updated five days a week, three times a day: roughly just after school, at dinnertime, and "when it’s really late and you should be writing a paper but are Facebook stalking instead."

2014 Teen Choice Awards

The 2014 Teen Choice Awards ceremony was held on August 10, 2014 at the Shrine Auditorium in Los Angeles, California. The event was originally scheduled to take place at the UCLA Pauley Pavilion, which was flooded by a broken water pipe on July 29, 2014 near the campus. It was broadcast on Fox at 8:00–10:00 pm ET live/PT tape-delayed. The awards celebrate the year's achievements in music, film, television, sports, fashion, comedy, and the Internet, and were voted on by viewers aged 13 through 19. Selena Gomez was awarded the Ultimate Choice Award during the show.

The following is a list of Teen Choice Award winners and nominees for Choice Music – Country Artist. Formally awarded as three separate categories from 2010 to 2014: Choice Music – Country Group, Choice Music – Male Country Artist and Choice Music – Female Country Artist. Beginning in 2015, the country genre was condensed from three categories to one, renamed Choice Country Artist. Taylor Swift and Lady Antebellum are the most awarded artists in this category with five wins each.

Olasunkanmi Rehanat Alonge, better known by her stage name Sunkanmi, is a Nigerian songwriter and singer; Sunkanmi rose to recognition in 2015 when she released "For Body", a song which had her enlisting the collaboration effort of a popular Nigerian musician by name Olamide. She is currently signed to Hit The Ground Records under which she has released numerous singles.

Davina Oriakhi is a London-based Nigerian singer, songwriter and poet. She was awarded the Choice Female Artist at the Nigerian Teen Choice Awards in 2016.

The Abryanz Style and Fashion Awards, also known as the ASFAs, are continental fashion awards presented annually in Uganda by Abryanz Collection to recognize excellence and outstanding achievement in the fashion industry in Uganda and Africa.
