Nightlands is a supplement in which a grotesque parallel Earth shaped by monstrous forces and metaphysical distortion is presented. This supplement opens the gateway to the Nightlands—a realm ruled by the Nightlords, whose cities mock real-world counterparts with lava rivers, gargoyle-laced towers, and economies built on death and torment. Rather than define the cause of the Nightlands' grim reflection of Earth, it offers several possibilities and leaves the ultimate truth to the gamemaster's discretion. In addition to rich world-building, the book outlines the major Nightlord factions, their conspiracies, and their evolving war against humankind. It gives equal narrative weight to the nightbane and other beings who resist, stumble into, or deliberately invade the Nightlands, exploring how they fight back or survive amid horror. [1]

Reception

Lucya Szachnowski reviewed Nightbane World Book Two: Nightlands for Arcane magazine, rating it an 8 out of 10 overall, and stated that "Horror games in general seem to be getting more graphic, gruesome and perverse at the moment, and this supplement is at the head of the trend. It's very atmospheric, with ample scenario suggestions at the end of most chapters. There is a lot of variety, whether your style of game is maximum carnage or personal horror. It also strikes an excellent balance between explaining what is really going on while leaving key elements deliberately undefined, letting refs decide themselves and preventing others from learning secrets that players were not meant to know."
