Nikki Stamp FRACS is an Australian cardiothoracic surgeon, writer and TV presenter. [1] [2]
Stamp graduated from St Mary's Anglican Girls' School in 1998, [3] and later from the University of Western Australia, completing specialty training in cardiothoracic surgery in 2014. [4] She is known for her commitment to women in surgery, women's heart disease and healthy lifestyles. She has written for the Huffington Post [5] Mamamia, The Age, The Guardian, [6] Sydney Morning Herald, iNews, The Washington Post [7] and has appeared as a health expert on women in surgery, heart disease and healthy lifestyles on a number of websites, print media, radio and television. Stamp appeared as the host ABC's science program Catalyst in 2017 and again in 2018 [11] [12] and was named by Harpers Bazaar Australia as one of their Women of the Year for 2017 [13] and TimeOut Sydney's 40 under 40. [14] Her first book was released in 2018, published by Murdoch Books, called Can You Die of a Broken Heart?. [15] Her second book, Pretty Unhealthy, was released in 2019, again by Murdoch Books. [16]
Stamp was a part of Seven Network's TV event Operation: Live in February 2019, with Stamp commenting on a live caesarean section, and open heart surgery over a two-night event. [17] Dr Stamp was not the operating surgeon [18] on either of these cases, but was rather acting as a commentator. After concerns voiced by surgeons surrounding the nature of the event, Seven revised the format of the event placing the heart operation on hold. [19] The Royal Australasian College of Surgeons president John Batten stated, "live surgery transmission was appropriate in professional education but not for 'tantalising' TV audiences", the college expressing "grave concerns" and strongly suggesting the show be pre-recorded and edited in case anything goes wrong or it distracts the surgical team. [19] The caesarean section show was well received by audiences, with the open heart surgery yet to be given an air date. [20]

Cardiac surgery, or cardiovascular surgery, is surgery on the heart or great vessels performed by cardiac surgeons. It is often used to treat complications of ischemic heart disease ; to correct congenital heart disease; or to treat valvular heart disease from various causes, including endocarditis, rheumatic heart disease, and atherosclerosis. Victor Peter Chang, AC, was a Chinese born Australian cardiac surgeon and a pioneer of modern heart transplantation. After completing his medical studies at the University of Sydney and working in St Vincent's Hospital, he trained in the United Kingdom and the United States as a surgeon before returning to Australia. In St Vincent's Hospital, he helped establish the National Cardiac Transplant Unit, the country's leading centre for heart and lung transplants. Chang's team had a high success rate in performing heart transplantations and he pioneered the development of an artificial heart valve.
Catalyst is an Australian science journalism television program broadcast by the Australian Broadcasting Corporation (ABC). The program is currently the only science show on primetime television in Australia. Launched in 2001, it replaced Quantum which had ceased the previous year. Catalyst is regularly broadcast on ABC TV at 8:30 pm on Tuesdays and repeated at 6:00 pm on Sundays.

Kumud Dhital is a Nepalese cardiothoracic specialist and Heart & Lung Transplant Surgeon at Yashoda Hospitals, Hyderabad, India. His prior work experience was at St Vincent's Hospital, Sydney and, Australia. In fall 2014, Dr. Dhital was head of the surgical team who completed the world's first “dead heart” transplant. A “dead heart” is a heart donated after circulatory death (DCD), where the heart has stopped beating. As of 24 October 2014, 3 patients had received DCD heart transplants. It helps to buy certain time(3 to 6 hrs) for the dead heart to transplant in a receiver.

Nagarur Gopinath was an Indian surgeon and one of the pioneers of cardiothoracic surgery in India. He is credited with the first successful performance of open heart surgery in India which he performed in 1962. He served as the honorary surgeon to two Presidents of India and was a recipient of the fourth highest Indian civilian award of Padma Shri in 1974 and Dr. B. C. Roy Award, the highest Indian medical award in 1978 from the Government of India.
Gopi Chand Mannam is an Indian cardiothoracic surgeon and the chief cardothoracic surgeon at Star Hospitals in Hyderabad, known for the performance of over 3,000 pediatric heart surgeries. After graduating from Guntur Medical College in 1981, he worked in Jamaica for two years at Victoria Jubilee Hospital in Kingston and Savanna-la-Mar Public General Hospital in Westmoreland, before moving to the UK where he secured a fellowship from the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh in 1986, followed by another fellowship from the Royal College of Surgeons of Glasgow in 1987. He worked in the UK for five years, at the end of which he secured the fellowship of the Royal College of Surgeons of London before returning to India in 1994 to join the Apollo Hospital in Hyderabad as a senior consultant in cardiothoracic surgery.
Steven R. Gundry is an American physician and author. He is a former cardiac surgeon and currently runs his own clinic, investigating the impact of diet on health. Gundry conducted cardiac surgery research in the 1990s and was the surgeon in an unusual case where an infant spontaneously healed, avoiding heart transplant surgery. Gundry is a New York Times best-selling author of The Plant Paradox: The Hidden Dangers in "Healthy" Foods That Cause Disease and Weight Gain.
The Good Doctor is an American medical drama television series based on the 2013 South Korean series of the same name. Actor Daniel Dae Kim noticed the original series and bought the rights for his production company. He began adapting the series and, in 2015, eventually shopped it to CBS Television Studios. CBS decided against creating a pilot. Because Kim felt so strongly about the series, he bought back the rights from CBS. Eventually, Sony Pictures Television and Kim worked out a deal and brought on David Shore, creator of the Fox medical drama House, to develop the series.

The season premiered on November 21, 2017. This season marks the final appearance of main character Sara Reese The season concludes on May 15, 2018, and contained 20 episodes.
