The geology of Nepal is dominated by the Himalaya, the highest, youngest and a very highly active mountain range. Himalaya is a type locality for the study of on-going continent-continent collision tectonics. The Himalayan arc extends about 2,400 km (1,500 mi) from Nanga Parbat by the Indus River in northern Pakistan eastward to Namche Barwa by the gorge of the Tsangpo-Brahmaputra in eastern Tibet. Upreti or sometimes spelled Uprety, is a surname found in the Hindu community of Kumaoni Brahmins, primarily living in the Kumaon region of Uttarakhand state of India and all over Nepal. A few members of this community are found in Uttar Pradesh, Delhi, Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, Sikkim and some other states of India too.

Bista is a family name of people of Nepal belonging to Khas people group under the caste Chhetri, sub-groups of Kshatriya varna and the Bahun caste of Brahmin varna. They are Hindu with a local Masto deity. They speak Nepali language as mother tongue. In India, Bista/Bistas are spelled as Bisht/Bishts or Bist/Bists and are titled as Rajputs. They are mostly found in Indian state of Uttarakhand. Bista is also a surname belonging to the Brahmins of the Kumain Bahun subcaste.

Ganga Bahadur Tamang Dong is a Nepali politician and a member of the House of Representatives of the federal parliament of Nepal. He was elected from Kavre-1 constituency, representing Communist Party of Nepal of the left alliance, under the first-past-the-post system. He defeated his nearest rival, Tirtha Bahadur Lama of Nepali Congress securing 43,631 votes against Lama's 39,605. Prior to that, he had only contested one local level election and lost.
