Alabo Tuwonimi Tuonims (born 16 February 1996), better known by his stage name Ninety, is a Nigerian singer, songwriter and music producer.

Biography

Ninety was born on 16 February 1996 in Port Harcourt. He is a Nigerian singer, songwriter, multi-instrumentalist, and record producer. [3] He grew up in an Anglican household and is the fourth of five children and the only male. Ninety attended Kings & Queens High School and Spring Foundation School, both in Bonny Island, Rivers State, for his primary and secondary education respectively. He grew up listening to Michael Jackson, Damian Marley, and Styl Plus, and started writing his own music as early as age 15. [4]

Career

On the 19th of March, 2022, following the release of his debut single, Unruly, Ninety released Touch & Follow, his second single after joining Freeme Music. [5]

Ninety adds a new fluidity to the wave of sounds emerging in this multi-genre. Formerly known as Ninety6, he identifies as an Afro-Fusion artist, seamlessly blending Pop, R&B, Dancehall, and Reggae.  [6]

In April 2022, Ninety released Diamond a lead single from his debut project Rare Gem. [7]

On 28 April 2023, Ninety released his debut project titled Rare Gem. [8] [9] In his review of the extended play, Motolani Alake from Pulse Nigeria says "his approach aligns with his minimalistic appearance; handsome yet embellished with dreads, strong forearms and avant-garde sense of style, complete with dreads and limited jewelry." [10]

Honors

On 18 May 2023, Apple Music announced Ninety as the Apple Music Up Next for Nigeria. Commenting on the feature, Ninety said, "It's a beautiful thing making music and telling stories, but it's more beautiful when you have people listening to the music, and can resonate with the stories I tell. That connection is unmatched, and it's why I'm excited to be selected for Apple Music's 'Up Next' programme," he told Apple Music. [11] [12]

Mr. Money with the Vibe is the debut studio album by Nigerian singer Asake, following his signing with YBNL Nation in February 2022. It was released on 7 September 2022 through Empire Distribution. The album comprises 12 tracks, which were all produced by Magicsticks and plugged by Olaitan. The album features two guest appearances from Russ and Burna Boy. Two other tracks which have been previously released as singles from the album are "Peace Be Unto You (PBUY)" and "Terminator" which were released in June 2022 and August 2022 respectively. This album release is a follow-up to his extended play Ololade Asake which was released in February 2022 immediately after being signed by Olamide to YBNL. He is known for a distinctly hybrid approach fusing trap, dancehall, Afropop and R&B. He came into the music scene with an acclaimed extended play In The Rough, with the lead track "Attention" released in 2022. The song debuted at number 6 on TurnTable Afro-Pop Songs, and the extended play peaked at number 36 on TurnTable Top 50. In November 2022, he ranked number 80 on TurnTable Artiste Top 100.

Oniyide Azeez, professionally known as Zinoleesky, is a Nigerian singer, songwriter and rapper. His rise to fame began with the launch of his debut album Chrome Eccentric featuring hit tracks like "Ma Pariwo" and "Kilofeshe.".

<i>Pandemic</i> (EP) 2021 EP by Ruger

Pandemic is the debut EP by Nigerian singer Ruger. It was released on 12 March 2021, through Jonzing World and Sony Music UK, and features no guest appearances. Production was handled by Kukbeatz.

Akintunde Abiodun Timileyin, known professionally as T.I Blaze, is a Nigerian singer, and songwriter currently signed to Dvpper Music. He rose to stardom with the release of his sleeper hit single "Sometimes" in 2021 which spawned success in 2022, following the remix with one of Nigerian most influential artists in Africa Olamide, which earned him his first chart entry at number three on Nigeria TurnTable Songs chart, and at number sixteen, on TurnTable End of the Year Top 100 of 2022.

Ajebo Hustlers is a Nigerian Afrobeats and Highlife music duo composed of Piego and Knowledge, a rapper. They were nominated for the 2022 Headies Awards for Songwriter of the Year and won the Best Duo at the Soundcity MVP Awards in 2023.
