Nithya Ramraj (born 20 September 1998) is an Indian athlete from Tamil Nadu. She competes in 100m hurdles. She represented India at the 2022 Asian Games in Hangzhou, China. [1] [2] She is India's No.2 in the sprint hurdles behind top athlete Jyothi Yarraji in the rankings. [3]

Early life

Nithya hails from Coimbatore, Tamil Nadu. Her father was a truck driver and her mother, Meena, is a home maker. [4] She is the youngest of the three sisters. [5] Her identical twin Vithya is also an athlete. The girls started playing hockey and her mother joined them in the Erode Girls Sports School for Class 7. Later they shifted to athletics. Nithya is working with the Income Tax Department. [1]

She is the third Indian woman to ever qualify for the Women's 100 metres event at the Summer Olympic Games. In 2018, Chand clinched silver in women's 100m at the Jakarta Asian Games. It was India's first medal in this event since 1998. Moreover, In 2019, she became the first Indian sprinter to win gold at the Universiade, clocking 11.32 seconds in the 100 m race.

Hiriyur Manjunath Jyothi is an Indian sprinter and Commonwealth games medalist. She competes in the 100 metres, 200 metres, and 4×100 metres relay categories. She is a national champion or former national champion in each of the three events, with personal best timings of 11.3, 23.42, and 43.42 seconds in the 100 metres, 200 metres, and 4×100 metres relay, respectively. Her personal best times in all three events were after her withdrawal from professional competition for three years to become a mother. A Canara Bank employee, Jyothi is married to the former sprinter S. Srinivas, who is also her personal coach. Despite wanting to win a medal at Asian games, she couldn’t continue sprint due to persistent achilles injury. She ended up her career in 2017 with a gold at the open nationals, Chennai.

Subha Venkatesan is an Indian athlete. She competed in the women's 4 × 400 metres relay event at the 2019 World Athletics Championships. In July 2021, she was selected for representing India at the 2020 Summer Olympics in the mixed 4 × 400 metres relay. She was part of the women's 4 × 400 m relay Indian team along with Vithya Ramraj, Aishwarya Mishra and Prachi Choudhary that won silver at the 2022 Asian Games. She also won a silver medal in the 4 x 400m mixed relay event along with Vithya Ramraj, Muhammad Ajmal and Rajesh Ramesh.

Dhanalakshmi Sekar is an Indian athlete from Tamil Nadu. She rose to limelight after beating veteran Indian sprinters Dutee Chand and Hima Das in the 200m event at the 2021 Federation Cup. She made her debut appearance at the Olympics representing India at the 2020 Summer Olympics. She was banned for a period of 3 years for failing a doping test in May 2022.

Jyothi Yarraji is an Indian track and field athlete from Andhra Pradesh. She specializes in 100 metre hurdles and holds the Indian national record. She broke the long-standing record by Anuradha Biswal on 10 May 2022 clocking 13.23s. She has broken the record multiple times ever since.

Vithya Ramraj is an Indian athlete from Coimbatore, Tamil Nadu. She is a three-time National champion. She competes in 100m and 400m hurdles and 400 metres. On 2 October 2023 at the 2022 Asian Games, she equalled the Indian national record of 55.42s in 400m hurdles set by P. T. Usha at the Los Angeles Olympics in 1984. She won the 400m hurdles bronze at the 2022 Asian Games in Hangzhou, China on October 3. She also won a silver medal-winning 4x400m mixed relay team along with Muhammad Ajmal Variyathodi, Rajesh Ramesh and Subha Venkatesan.

Pavithra Vengatesh is an Indian athlete from Tamil Nadu. She represents India in the pole vault event. She is part of the Indian team for the Asian Games at Hangzhou, China. Pavithra's personal best is 4.10m. The national record of 4.15m stands in the name of V S Surekha set in 2014.
