Nive Nielsen is a Greenlandic singer-songwriter and an actress. An Inuk from Nuuk, Greenland, as a singer-songwriter she plays with her band The Deer Children, [1] [2] often using a little red guitar-ukulele, which kickstarted her music career. The first concert she played was for Margrethe II of Denmark.

She appeared as an Inuk woman in The New World , starring Colin Farrell, in 2005. She also starred in the first season of the AMC supernatural thriller series, The Terror , in 2018. In this series she portrayed a shaman named Silna, dubbed "Lady Silence" by the crew of the Franklin expedition.

<i>The North Water</i> (TV series) British TV series

The North Water is a 2021 five-part television miniseries based on Ian McGuire's 2016 novel of the same name written and directed by Andrew Haigh and starring Colin Farrell and Jack O'Connell. An international co-production between British public broadcaster BBC, and Canadian English-language public broadcaster CBC Television, in association with Canadian premium television channel Super Channel and CBC Television's French-language counterpart ICI Radio-Canada Télé, the series first premiered in the United States on AMC+ on 15 July 2021 before premiering in the United Kingdom on BBC Two on 10 September 2021 and in Canada on Super Channel Fuse a week later on 19 September, followed by a nationwide broadcast in the country on CBC Television in English and ICI Radio-Canada Télé in French, with video on demand availability on the CBC Gem and ICI TOU.TV services in both respective languages.

<i>Homo Sapienne</i> 2014 Greenlandic novel

Homo Sapienne, stylized as HOMO sapienne, and also known as Last Night in Nuuk or Crimson, from its English translations, is a novel by Greenlander Niviaq Korneliussen, published in 2014 in both Greenlandic and Danish. After winning a short story competition, Korneliussen was financially supported by the Greenland government to write the novel over three months, but she wrote it in only one. It is about the lives of several LGBT characters in Nuuk, the capital of Greenland. While reviewers commended its subject matter, the novel had issues with pacing and tone; it received a mixed critical reception. Regardless, it was nominated for the 2015 Nordic Council Literature Prize. Korneliussen would later go on to win the prize in 2021 with her follow-up, Naasuliardarpi.
