No Agenda is a podcast hosted by Adam Curry and John C. Dvorak that is recorded twice a week on Thursdays and Sundays at 11 a.m. Pacific Time. [1] The show is primarily focused on mainstream media deconstruction.

Contents

The show has no advertisers and instead subsists entirely on donations. There are no guidelines for the amount and frequency of contributions; instead, these are left to the discretion of the listener, a model called "value for value" by the show's hosts. [2] The show also relies on its listeners—dubbed "producers"—to provide artwork [3] and audio clips.

In July 2016, the show won the Podcast Award for Best Podcast in the category "News & Politics." [4] In September 2013, the show was nominated for Podcast Awards in two categories, "People's Choice" and "Politics / News". [5] Talkers Magazine featured the podcast in their "Frontier Fifty", an alphabetically sorted list containing a "Selection of Outstanding Talk Media Webcasters". [6]

In December 2009, the show announced they had reached 450,000 listeners. [7] During an appearance on The Joe Rogan Experience in July 2021, Curry stated that No Agenda has 1–1.4 million listeners per episode. [8]

A primer has been produced for newer listeners, both as an introduction and a discussion of the show. [9]

History

No Agenda debuted in October 2007. [10] [11] Its premise was that the co-founder (Curry) and then vice-president (Dvorak) of mevio (until Oct. 2012) would have an unfiltered dialogue. The impetus for starting the show, according to Curry, was a 4-minute phone call made to Dvorak saying that they "should do a show together." Little thought was given to what the show would be about, in fact only the name was agreed upon before the first show was recorded.[ citation needed ]

The original tagline of No Agenda was that it would be the show with "no sponsors, jingles, and of course no agenda." The show's only sound effect came during the closing minute, where the jazz song On the Seventh Day by the Marriott Jazz Quintet played as the hosts signed off. Topics included the news of the day, restaurant reviews, and family.[ citation needed ]

The show gradually moved in the direction of news and political commentary. Jingles have been introduced, and have evolved into catch phrases. The show discusses current news and conspiracy theories, with the hosts discussing topics in response to their belief that the mainstream media glosses over what they see as the real facts. Celebrity gossip and other soft news stories are brought up for ironic effect, with the one that has garnered the most attention often being named "Distraction of the week".[ citation needed ]

The podcast does not accept advertising and is supported by the listeners to prevent conflicts of interest. Through this direct listener-supported model, those that contribute amounts above a predetermined level are referred to as executive producers. [2]

No Agenda was named to Talkers Magazine's Frontier Fifty list for 2011, a list of 'Outstanding Media Webcasters.' [6]

The show received five out of five microphones in review published by Podcast Magazine. [12]

No Agenda Social

No Agenda Social served as the flagship social media platform for the show until early 2024 when it was closed down. [13] A goal of this platform was to avoid the censorship, restrictions, and rules found on many "Big Tech" social media platforms. [14] It ran  Mastodon  software and was connected to a network of distributed social media platforms known as the  Fediverse. [15]

Live365 was created in 1999, and remains one of the longest running internet radio websites for listeners and broadcasters.

<i>This Week in Tech</i> Technology podcast

This Week in Tech–casually referred to as TWiT, and briefly known as Revenge of the Screen Savers–is the weekly flagship podcast and namesake of the TWiT.tv network. It is hosted by Leo Laporte and many other former TechTV employees and currently produced by Jason Howell. It features round-table discussions and debates surrounding current technology news and reviews, with a particular focus on consumer electronics and the Internet. TWiT is produced in the TWiT "eastside" studios in Petaluma, California, United States, since 2016, a few miles away from the former "brickhouse" studios where it had been produced for 5 years, and earlier TWiT "cottage", where it was produced for over 6 years. The podcast is streamed live on Sundays at 2:15 P.M. PST.

The Daily Source Code (DSC) was a podcast by Adam Curry, known as the "Podfather", often considered a pioneer of podcasting. Curry talked about his everyday life and events in the podcasting scene or the news in general, as well as playing music from the Podsafe Music Network and promotions for other podcasts. He had regular returning segments which were mostly contributions from fellow podcasts and his daughter Christina occasionally made guest appearances. The show had more than 500,000 subscribers at its peak.

The Stephanie Miller Show is a syndicated progressive talk radio program that discusses politics, current events, and pop culture using a fast-paced, impromptu, comedic style. The three-hour show is hosted by Stephanie Miller and is syndicated by Westwood One. Voice artist Jim Ward formerly co-hosted the show and is a recurring guest. Miller is frequently joined on the air by executive producer Jody Hamilton and general manager Chris Lavoie. Adam and Joe was a radio show on BBC Radio 6 Music presented by Adam and Joe – comedians Adam Buxton and Joe Cornish. The show began in October 2007 and ran for three hours in a Saturday morning slot, originally from 9:00am to 12:00pm before moving to 10:00am to 1:00pm. After a hiatus from 26 December 2009, the series returned for three months on 2 April 2011. <i>The Joe Rogan Experience</i> American podcast

The Joe Rogan Experience is a podcast hosted by American comedian, presenter, and UFC color commentator Joe Rogan. It launched on December 24, 2009, on YouTube by Rogan and comedian Brian Redban, who was its sole co-host and producer until 2012 when Jamie Vernon, who would eventually take over production, was hired to co-produce. By 2015, it was one of the world's most popular podcasts, regularly receiving millions of views per episode, also including a wide array of guests, including business magnate Elon Musk, whistleblower Edward Snowden, Senator Bernie Sanders, and astrophysicist Neil deGrasse Tyson. Since December 2020, the podcast has been exclusively available on Spotify, with highlights uploaded onto the main Joe Rogan Experience YouTube channel. The podcast was originally recorded at Rogan's home in California, before moving to a private studio in Woodland Hills, Los Angeles. Production was relocated to Austin, Texas after the podcast was exclusively licensed on Spotify in 2020.

She is the host of "The Sheena Metal Experience" on LATalkRadio.com, "aMusic Highway", "Music Highway", and "Haunted Playground". She was the host of "Two Chicks Talkin' Politics".
