This station was built in 2003 under Jamuna Bridge railway connecting project. When it opened that time it known as Ibrahimabad railway station. But in 2010 Railway changed its named as Bangabandhu Bridge East railway station. In 2024 once again changed its named to Ibrahimabad railway station.
