Nobody's Girl: A Memoir of Surviving Abuse and Fighting for Justice is a memoir by advocate Virginia Giuffre about the abuse she was subjected to by Jeffrey Epstein and Ghislaine Maxwell, as well as, allegedly, Britain's Prince Andrew and other influential men. The book was ghostwritten with journalist Amy Wallace and published posthumously on October 21, 2025, by Alfred A. Knopf (a division of Penguin Random House). [1] [2] [3] [4]

Background

Giuffre was an American and Australian [5] advocate [6] of justice for survivors of sex trafficking, and one of the most prominent and vocal accusers of child sex offender Jeffrey Epstein. Giuffre created Victims Refuse Silence, a non-profit organization in the United States, in 2015, [7] [8] which was relaunched under the name Speak Out, Act, Reclaim (SOAR) in November 2021. She gave a detailed account to many American and British reporters about her experiences of being trafficked by Epstein and Ghislaine Maxwell. [9] [10]

Giuffre pursued criminal and civil actions against Epstein and Maxwell, and appealed directly to the public for justice and awareness. [11] She sued Maxwell for defamation in 2015, and the case was settled in Giuffre's favor for an undisclosed sum in 2017. [12] On July 2, 2019, the United States Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit ordered the unsealing of documents from the earlier civil suit by Giuffre against Maxwell. [13] The first batch of documents from Giuffre's suit were released to the public on August 9, 2019, [14] further implicating Epstein, Maxwell, and a number of their associates. The following day, Epstein was found dead in his Manhattan prison cell. [15]

In an October 2019 interview for BBC's Panorama , aired on December 2, Giuffre described her experiences of being sex trafficked by Epstein to Britain's Prince Andrew, which resulted in public opinion shifting against the prince. [16] She subsequently sued the prince in civil court in New York. The suit was settled in February 2022, with Prince Andrew paying an undisclosed amount to Giuffre, and making a substantial donation to her charity. [17] [18] Giuffre started writing her memoir in 2021. She died in April 2025, stating prior to her death that she wanted her book published.

Summary

In the book, Giuffre describes her period working at Mar-a-Lago, where her father worked, and her grooming by Ghislaine Maxwell and Jeffrey Epstein. She writes of the abuse that Epstein subjected her to and of sadomasochistic sexual intercourse between them. [1] She also describes the three occasions she alleged that she had intercourse with Prince Andrew. [1] According to Giuffre, Maxwell woke her one day in March 2001 to tell her she was to be like Cinderella that day as she would meet a "handsome prince". According to Giuffre, Prince Andrew correctly guessed that she was aged 17 on meeting her as she was slightly older than his two daughters. She also alleged that on one occasion of sexual intercourse with Andrew, Epstein was involved, and that a second occasion involved eight other young women. [1] [19]

Some of the biggest allegations by Giuffre in Nobody's Girl are those of being raped by a "well-known prime minister", having her first of her three sex encounters with Prince Andrew on March 10, 2001, an ectopic pregnancy she may have had while being trafficked to many men in July 2001, and her accusation about Epstein and Maxwell attempting to use her as a surrogate mother for their planned baby. Reactions

An excerpt from the book was published by The Guardian five days ahead of publication. [21] It was released amid renewed public and media attention about Epstein, prominently his friendship with U.S. President Donald Trump and also his client list. On October 17, 2025, Prince Andrew publicly announced that he would no longer use his peerage titles or the honours conferred upon him. He agreed to stop using his titles and honours with the exception of "prince". [22]

On October 18, 2025, it was reported that Prince Andrew had instructed one of his taxpayer‑funded personal bodyguard officers to investigate Giuffre. This would include ensuring that he would be provided with her date of birth and U.S. Social Security number—in an apparent attempt to "dig up dirt" on her, just before the widely circulated photograph of them together came to light. [23] The next day, the Metropolitan Police announced they were assessing the alleged misuse of police resources, as well as the claim that Prince Andrew "pressured" the personal bodyguard to "dig up dirt" on Giuffre.
