Nodaway-Holt R-VII School District is a school district headquartered in Graham, Missouri, and has Graham, Maitland, and Skidmore in its attendance boundary. It operates an elementary school in Maitland and a junior-senior high school in Graham, with the latter including the district headquarters. [1]

Contents

Its previous high school building was built in 1938. In 2019 a new high school building was established. The district planned to demolish the 1938 facility on June 8, 2020. [2]

The current high school building was scheduled to open in 2019. [3]

Skidmore, Maitland, and Graham consolidated into Nodaway-Holt in 1968. K-3 was located in Skidmore, 4-8 in Maitland and 9-12 in Graham. The Skidmore building was later closed and the current building configuration of K-6 in Maitland and 7-12 in Graham was adopted.

There were 22 students in the Class of 2000. [4]

Athletics

In 2020 the West Nodaway School District agreed to enter into a sports cooperative program with Nodaway-Holt. [5]

Bobbie Jo Stinnett was an American 23-year-old pregnant woman who was murdered in Skidmore, Missouri in December 2004. The perpetrator, Lisa Marie Montgomery, then aged 36 years old, strangled Stinnett to death and cut her fetus from her womb. Montgomery was arrested in Kansas the next day and charged with kidnapping resulting in death – a federal crime. Stinnett's baby was safely recovered by authorities and returned to the father.

Mike Thomson is a Republican former member of the Missouri House of Representatives. Thomson represented the 1st District, encompassing all or portions of Atchison, Holt, Nodaway, and Worth counties in northwest Missouri. Previously this district was known as the 4th. However the 2010 U.S. Census led to redistricting and renumbering across Missouri. Having served in the Missouri House since first being elected in 2006, Thomson is term-limited from running again in 2014.

West Nodaway High School is a public high school in Burlington Junction, Missouri, serving grades 6–12.
