Nollywood Reinvented, also known simply as NR, is a website launched in 2011 and dedicated primarily to film reviews. [1] It also provides information about films, actors, producers and other film people. It is one of the first review platforms dedicated to Nollywood. The website provides two major categories of movie reviews (cinematic reviews and home video reviews) as well as TV show reviews and ratings. [2]
Nollywood Reinvented's website was created on 22 January 2011. [3] It was created to help improve the Nigerian Cinema presence on the internet as well as to serve as a reference for Nigerian movie viewers. With over 100 Nigerian and Ghanaian movies reviewed and counting, NR helps create a platform and reference for nollywood on the web.
The website is able to serve as a reference by providing ratings and reviews to the nollywood audience, these ratings include the critic ratings as well as audience ratings which provides an opportunity for side by side comparison. The website also helps to sort nollywood movies into categories according to genre and actors. NR also serves as a database to provide quick information (such as synopsis and production information) about nollywood movies on the web to the audience.
Nollywood Reinvented holds a yearly survey for films known as the NR Awards. The nomination phase usually begins in the month of June or July and viewers would be able to nominate individuals or films in various categories. Nomination period lasts for two to three months, before the commencement of the voting process, which will carry on until the end of November, and winners announced in December. Majid Michel is a Ghanaian actor, model, television personality, evangelist and a humanitarian. He received nominations for Best Actor in a Leading Role at the Africa Movie Academy Awards in 2009, 2010, 2011, 2012, 2014 and 2017. He eventually won the award in 2012 after three previous consecutive nominations.
The Figurine: Araromire is a 2009 Nigerian supernatural suspense thriller film written by Kemi Adesoye, produced and directed by Kunle Afolayan, who also stars in the film as one of the main protagonists. It also stars Ramsey Nouah and Omoni Oboli.
Phone Swap is a 2012 Nigerian romance comedy-drama film written by Kemi Adesoye, directed and produced by Kunle Afolayan. It stars Nse Ikpe Etim, Wale Ojo, Joke Silva, Chika Okpala, Lydia Forson and Afeez Oyetoro, and focuses on a series of events unfolding when two polar opposites accidentally exchange phones. The film was conceived after a brief from an advertising agency to create a movie that would cut across ages 15 to 45. It received 4 nominations at the 8th Africa Movie Academy Awards which includes the category Best Nigerian Film and won the award Achievement in Production Design.
The Meeting is a 2012 Nigerian romantic comedy drama film produced by Rita Dominic & Mildred Okwo and directed by Mildred Okwo. It stars Femi Jacobs, Rita Dominic, Linda Ejiofor, Kehinde Bankole and Jide Kosoko with special appearances from Nse Ikpe Etim, Kate Henshaw and Chinedu Ikedieze. It received 6 nominations at the 9th Africa Movie Academy Awards and won the award for the category Achievement In Make-Up.
Awakening is a 2013 Nigerian dark thriller film directed by James Omokwe and Ethan Okwara and starring OC Ukeje, Kehinde Bankole, Femi Brainard and Bryan Okwara. It was nominated for the category AMAA Achievement In Visual Effects at the 9th Africa Movie Academy Awards. The film was the highest rated film on Nollywood Reinvented at the time of release, with a score of 81%.
Hoodrush is a 2012 Nigerian musical thriller film written, produced, and directed by Dimeji Ajibola, and starring OC Ukeje, Bimbo Akintola, and Gabriel Afolayan. It received two nominations at the 9th Africa Movie Academy Awards, Gabriel Afolayan eventually won the award for the category Best Actor In A Supporting Role.
Journey to Self is a 2012 Nigerian drama film written and produced by Ashionye Michelle Raccah and directed by Tope Oshin, starring Nse Ikpe-Etim, Dakore Akande, Ashionye Michelle Raccah, Katherine Obiang and Tosin Sido. It received a nomination for the category Achievement In Soundtrack at the 9th Africa Movie Academy Awards. The film tells a story of 5 childhood friends who converge at the home of one of them who just died, she leaves a series of letters that explains her struggles through life and eventually leading to their "self discovery".
Torn is a 2013 Nigerian psychological thriller film directed by Moses Inwang and starring Joseph Benjamin, Ireti Doyle and Monalisa Chinda. It received five nominations at the 2013 Best of Nollywood Awards for categories Director of the Year, Movie of the Year, Best Edited Movie, Best Screenplay, and Best Actress in a Leading Role, but did not win any awards.
Make a Move is a 2014 Nigerian dance musical film produced by Ivie Okujaye and directed by Niyi Akinmolayan, starring Ivie Okujaye, Tina Mba, Beverly Naya, Wale Adebayo, Victor Godfery, Helga Sosthenes and Eno Ekpenyong, with special appearances from Majid Michel, Denrele Edun, 2face Idibia and Omawumi Megbele.
Weekend Getaway is a 2012 Nigerian romantic drama film directed by Desmond Elliot and starring Genevieve Nnaji, Ramsey Nouah, Monalisa Chinda, Ini Edo, Uti Nwachukwu, Alexx Ekubo, Bryan Okwara, Beverly Naya and Uru Eke. It received 11 nominations and eventually won 4 awards at the 2013 Nollywood & African Film Critics Awards (NAFCA). It also received 2 nominations at the 2013 Best of Nollywood Awards with Alexx Ekubo eventually winning the award for Best Actor in a supporting role. The film was a box-office success in Nigerian cinemas generally because of its star-studded cast.
Reloaded is a 2009 Nigerian romantic drama film directed by Lancelot Oduwa Imasuen & Ikechukwu Onyeka, starring Ramsey Nouah, Rita Dominic, Desmond Elliot, Stephanie Okereke, Ini Edo and Nse Ikpe Etim. It received 3 nominations at the 5th Africa Movie Academy Awards.
House of Gold is a 2013 Ghanaian Nigerian comedy film, produced by Yvonne Nelson and directed by Pascal Amanfo. It stars Majid Michel, Yvonne Nelson, Omawumi Megbele, Mercy Chinwo, Ice Prince Zamani, Eddie Watson and Francis Odega.
Kiss and Tell is a 2011 Nigerian romantic comedy film, produced by Emem Isong and directed by Desmond Elliot. It stars Monalisa Chinda, Joseph Benjamin, Desmond Elliot, Nse Ikpe Etim, Uche Jombo and Bhaira Mcwizu. Though the film was a commercial success, it was met with mixed to negative reception.

Oyekunle Opeyemi Oluwaremi, known professionally as Kunle Remi, is a Nigerian actor, producer, and model. He appeared in the films Falling and Aníkúlápó, the television series Tinsel, and won the 7th edition of Gulder Ultimate Search in 2010. While studying at the New York Film Academy, he was simultaneously hosting an Internet Television Channel, Celebville 360. He hosted the Academy Awards nomination event in Beverly Hills. In 2012, he was cast in his first movie, Heavy Beauty, produced by Grace Edwin Okon and directed by Stanlee Ohikhuare. Though he graduated in 2014, he returned to study filmmaking and directing, and graduated in 2015.
Sugar Rush is a 2019 Nigerian crime action comedy film written by Jadesola Osiberu and Bunmi Ajakaiye, and directed by Kayode Kasum. The film stars Adesua Etomi, Bisola Aiyeola and Bimbo Ademoye in the lead roles. The film had its theatrical release on 25 December 2019 coinciding Christmas and opened to mixed reviews from critics. Despite the mixed reviews, the film became a box office success and became the fourth highest grossing Nigerian film of all time.

The film received several nominations at the 2018 Africa Magic Viewers Choice Awards. The film also received joint most nominations at the 2018 Africa Magic Choice Awards.
Dare Olaitan is a Nigerian filmmaker, producer, writer, and director. He is best known for the film Ojukokoro (2016) .The film received two nominations at the Africa Movie Academy Awards (AMAA). he also directed Knockout Blessing (2018), which won Africa Movie Academy Awards in 2019, Dwindle, Ile Owo, Obara’M and Ègún.
