Norgie Noriega Montes (best known only as Noriega) [1] is a reggaeton producer and singer known for making No. 1 hits in reggaeton along with reggaeton producers Luny Tunes. [2] [3] He also CEO of Noriega Music Publishing.

He won three BMI Awards with the songs "Amigo mío" from Toño Rosario and Tego Calderón in 2006, [4] "Carita bonita" from Pee Wee in 2010 [5] and in 2017 with "Si lo hacemos bien" from Wisin, [6] and two Billboard Latin Music Awards in 2004. [7]

Musical career

Noriega was one of the primary reggaeton producers during the style's rise to popularity and commercial significance. [8] He began earning high-profile production credits in 2002 with Las Guanábanas, Guillaera; Hector & Tito, A La Reconquista; Magnate & Valentino, Rompiendo el Hielo. His breakout came the following year, when he produced tracks for Ivy Queen, Diva, Tego Calderón, El Abayarde; and Vico C, En Honor a la Verdad, [9] who were among the most respected artists in Puerto Rico at the time.

Also in 2003, Noriega was co-billed with Luny Tunes on Mas Flow , [10] a groundbreaking mixtape for DJ Nelson's Flow Music label. He was a finalist in the Billboard Latin Music Awards in 2004, along with Luny Tunes. [11] While Luny Tunes continued on with the Mas Flow series, becoming one of reggaeton's undisputed top hitmakers in the process, Noriega proceeded to work on his first truly solo mixtape, Contra la Corriente (2004), which was again commissioned by DJ Nelson and released via Universal Latino. Also in 2004, Noriega was credited with an impressive list of production work: Eddie Dee, 12 Discípulos; Las Guanábanas, Collection Two; Tego Calderón, El Enemy de los Guasíbiri; Mikey Perfecto, Evolucion Arrestada; Zion & Lennox, Motivando a la Yal; Baby Rasta & Gringo, Sentenciados. In the following years, his career underwent some upheaval; most notably, he left the Flow Music camp and resurfaced in 2006 under the Univision banner for his second solo release, Sin Control (2006).

Noriega occasionally sings on the songs he produces. He was the composer of the single "Por Amar a Ciegas" by Arcangel. [12]

El Abayarde is the debut album by the Puerto Rican rapper Tego Calderón. It included the singles "Pa' Que Retozen", "Guasa Guasa" and "Al Natural". It was released in 2002 through White Lion Records selling over 50,000 copies its first week between Puerto Rico and some parts of the United States. It would eventually be internationally distributed by Sony BMG in 2003. The album sold 132,000 copies in the US and more than 350,000 copies worldwide. El Abayarde was nominated for a Lo Nuestro Award for Urban Album of the Year and Best Rap/Hip Hop Album in the 4th Latin Grammy Awards in 2003.

Mas Flow 2 is the second compilation album by reggaeton producers Luny Tunes. The album was a joint venture with reggaeton artist Baby Ranks as he was featured in virtually every song in the album. Many of reggaeton's biggest names were featured in the album, such as Daddy Yankee, Wisin & Yandel, Zion & Lennox, Tito "El Bambino", Ivy Queen, Hector "El Father", Voltio, and many others. Mas Flow 2 is one of the most critically acclaimed Latin albums of the year, and is considered to be substantially superior to the previous album. It also featured some artists from outside the reggaeton genre, such as Frankie J, Cultura Profetica, Deevani, Tony Tun-Tun, Spliff Star, among others.

En Honor a la Verdad is the sixth studio album by Puerto Rican singer Vico C. It was released on November 4, 2003, in the United States and Puerto Rico and November 18, 2003, by EMI Latin worldwide. The album incorporates aggressive sounds of hardcore rap and reggaeton and explores house, Afro-Cuban son riffs, salsa along with the production of Noruega, Echo, Luny Tunes, D`Mingo, DJ Blass and Menace. Raging diverse topics from drug addiction, rehabilitation, social conscious, prison, tales and storytelling inspired on the streets of Puerto Rico, it contains 15 tracks, including one skit and three remixes. It featured guest appearances Eddie Dee, Tony Touch and Tego Calderon. The album also includes "5 de Septiembre" dedicated to his daughter.

Mas Flow is the debut compilation album by reggaeton producers Luny Tunes. Along with Tego Calderón's El Abayarde, also released in 2003, Mas Flow was the first reggaeton album to meet a mass audience. In doing so, it introduced the world not only to the musical style itself in album format, but also to Luny Tunes, the production duo who would quickly become one of reggaeton's best known producers. The Noise—composed of DJs, MCs, producers, and club coordinators—hosted a long-lasting series of club nights in San Juan that were vital to the development and popularization of reggaeton. DJ Nelson earned credit as one of the top Noise DJs, and he also served as a producer and arranger for the collective's music.

Lilian Maranet, known as K-Mil or K-Mill, is a Puerto Rican reggaetón singer-songwriter and record producer. She began her career in 2003 with "Quien Tiene Mas Flow", a song which was featured on Luny Tunes and Noriega's debut compilation album Mas Flow. She continued recording with some of the best reggaetón producers including DJ Nelson and Rafi Mecenario, appearing on several compilation albums produced by the two, among others. Despite starting her career in 2003, K-Mil has yet to release a studio album.
