Norman Motorsports is the professional Trophy Truck #8 offroad racing team based in San Diego, California. It is owned and operated by Roger Norman. The team races in numerous off-road circuits, including SCORE/Tecate Baja series and Best In The Desert. [1]

In the first year of racing the SCORE points series, the team has already taken home the overall win at the Terribles Primm 300 which is quite a noteworthy feat for a brand new team. Norman Motorsports is currently[ when? ] in 6th place overall going into the Baja 1000 and has proven to be a contender to win it. They would currently be ranked 2nd if the race truck had finished Laughlin. [2]

A new video game (Baja: Edge of Control) was released at the end of September 2008 for Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 featuring the #8 Norman Motorsports trophy truck in team livery. The game was created by 2XL Games of Phoenix, Arizona.

Operations

Norman Motorsports is moving into a new 16,400-square-foot (1,520 m2) facility located at 9434 Bond Avenue in El Cajon, California. The new facility will be ready in January 2009 and is located next door to Fortin Transmissions and near Ivan Stewart's Pro Truck, Paul Mishell's Racer Services and McMillin Racing's facility. Currently Norman Motorsports is leasing 7,000 square feet (650 m2) at Wide Open in Irvine, California. El Cajon and Lakeside have the largest concentration of off-road businesses, teams, and enthusiasts in the country. It is also where the off-road business first took root in the United States.

Richard Bernard "Ricky" Johnson Jr. is an American former professional motocross, off-road truck and stock car racer. He competed in AMA motocross and Supercross during the 1980s and, won seven AMA national championships. He later switched to off-road racing. He won the Pro 2WD Trophy Truck championship in the 1998 Championship Off-Road Racing and 2010 TORC Series. He also won the Pro 4WD class at the 2011 and 2012 TORC Series. In September 2012, Johnson won the 4x4 world championship race at Crandon International Off-Road Raceway and later that day won the AMSOIL Cup pitting the two and four wheel drive trucks. Johnson won the 2014 Frozen Rush, the first short-course off-road race on snow.

Rod Hall was an American professional off-road racer. He was inducted in the Off-road Motorsports Hall of Fame in 2005. He has spent his entire adult life around four-wheel-drive vehicles. He competed in fifty straight Baja 1000 races and had class wins in 25 of them. At his death, he had the most desert off-road race wins.

All-American Girl Racing is the only all female race team to compete in Southern Nevada Off-Road Enthusiasts (SNORE), Mohave Desert Racing (MDR), and SCORE International off-road racing events, including the treacherous Baja 500 and the infamous Baja 1000. The team is the only all girl team in off-road racing.

Ron Bishop was an American off-road motorcycle racer. He was a long-term participant in the Baja 1000 and other desert off-road races.

Larry Roeseler is an American professional off-road racer. He is notable for having won the prestigious Baja 1000 desert race a record 13 times, the most of any competitor since the race's inception in 1967. His victories made him one of the most accomplished multi-discipline desert racers in off-road racing history.

Larry Ragland is an American professional offroad racing competitor and 5 time SCORE International Baja 1000 Trophy Truck overall winner. "Lightning" Larry Ragland is the second most winning driver in desert racing's history and a Trophy Truck expert.
